One of the many ways St. Joseph Parish helps parishioners feel remembered and appreciated is through our Birthday Card Ministry. Parishioners who are 70 years of age and older and have a birth date on file with the parish receive a card from Fr. Marcin on or near their special day. Church ministers, members of parish groups, and other volunteers are also included in this thoughtful outreach.

While many parishioners recognize Fr. Marcin’s signature on the cards, there is another person working behind the scenes to make sure those birthday wishes arrive on time. Longtime parishioner Diane Gonczy lovingly prepares the cards for mailing each month and sees that they are sent out to their recipients. Around the parish, she has earned the affectionate title of “The Birthday Card Lady.”

Often helping Diane with this ministry is her grandson, Max Thompson. Pictured above assisting with the June mailing, Max regularly joins his grandmother as they prepare the cards together. What began as a parish service project for Diane has also become a special tradition for the two of them. They often make an evening of it, enjoying time together over pizza and conversation while completing the mailing or grabbing dinner out afterward.

This ministry is a wonderful example of the small acts of kindness that help strengthen our parish family. A simple birthday card can brighten someone’s day and remind them that they are remembered, valued, and prayed for by their parish. Thank you to Fr. Marcin for taking the time to recognize parishioners on their birthdays, and thank you to Diane Gonczy—and her faithful helper Max—for making sure those greetings reach mailboxes throughout the year.

Thank you to everyone who participated at Blood Drive on May 31 at St. Joseph Parish! Because of your generosity, 28 units of blood were collected—exceeding our goal and potentially impacting up to 84 lives. Every donation helps provide hope and healing to patients, from trauma victims and surgery patients to those battling serious illnesses.

Pictured are Kyle and Amy Bovie, a husband-and-wife team of regular donors. We think it’s pretty special to see a couple sharing this life-saving act of generosity side by side. Their example reminds us that giving blood is not only a gift to strangers in need, but also a wonderful way to serve others together.

Mark your calendars for our next Blood Drive on Sunday, July 26, 2026. We hope to see many familiar faces—and some new ones—as we continue this important ministry of saving lives together.

Today, our parish family took to the streets in faith and devotion as we celebrated the Solemnity of Corpus Christi with a Eucharistic procession. It was a beautiful public witness to our belief in the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.

A heartfelt thank you to Fr. Marcin for leading us in prayer, Deacon Greg for his assistance, our altar servers, liturgical ministers, and musicians for helping make this celebration so prayerful and reverent. We are also grateful to the Knights of Columbus for their support and service, and to our Art & Environment team for their work in preparing for this special day.

May our love for Christ in the Eucharist continue to grow as we carry Him not only through our streets, but into our homes, workplaces, and daily lives.
