Watch out! Don’t do your good deeds publicly, to be admired by others, for you will lose the reward from your Father in heaven. When you give to someone in need, don’t do as the hypocrites do—blowing trumpets in the synagogues and streets to call attention to their acts of charity! I tell you the truth, they have received all the reward they will ever get. But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.
Matthew 6:1-4(NLT)
Everyone wants to be in the forefront and receive accolades for the things they do. There are a select few who have risen to a higher level. They inhabit an isolated region that is sparely populated. They live there because they desire to be God pleasers, rather than man pleasers. They have ascended to the lofty heights of the mountain of God. Their very existence is an indication of the health of the Christian Church. These people are the intercessors, who spend hours wrestling in prayer for the needs of others. They are the Godly saints who anonymously leave bags of groceries on the porch of a struggling family. They are the ministering angels who sent a secret gift of money to a worthy missionary project. Jesus said that your Father in Heaven sees what you do in secret and you will be greatly rewarded. We, on the other hand, only catch a rare glimpse of these rare and precious ones. Most of the time we only see their tracks. Maybe you are on of these people. Be encouraged today and keep up the good work. Maybe you are called to join them, there is always room and help is greatly appreciated by your Heavenly Father. Jesus loves you and so do we! I just wanted to leave you with the words to a very old song.
Thank You by Ray Boltz
I dreamed I went to heaven
And you were there with me
We walked upon the streets of gold
Beside the crystal sea
We heard these angels singing
Then someone called your name
You turned and saw this young man
And he was smiling as he came
And he said friend you may not know me now
And then he said, but wait
You used to teach my Sunday School
When I was only eight
And every week you would say a prayer
Before the class would start
And one day when you said that prayer
I asked Jesus in my heart
CHORUS
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am a life that was changed
Thank you for giving to the Lord
I am so glad you gave
Then another man stood before you
And said remember the time
A missionary came to your church
And his pictures made you cry
You didn't have much money
But you gave it anyway
Jesus took the gift you gave
And that's why I'm here today
CHORUS (repeat)
One by one they came
Far as your eyes could see
Each life somehow touched
By your generosity
Little things that you had done
Sacrifices you made
They were unnoticed on the earth
In heaven now proclaimed
And I know that up in heaven
You're not supposed to cry
But I am almost sure
There were tears in your eyes
As Jesus took your hand
And you stood before the Lord
He said, my child look around you
For great is your reward
