Sr. Elizabeth joined us this weekend Saturday, June 13th & Sunday, June 14th.

Mission Appeal — Daughters of Mary-Tabora, Tanzania I am Sr. M. Elizabeth Lima and I am a member of the religious order of the Daughters of Mary. When I was in my country I involved my self in helping those who were in need of my service in accordance with the motto of our Congregation (Charity and Service). I have taught religious education from pre-school and above. I was a librarian at the Catholic University, and have facilitated a women and youth development program. I received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English from the College of Saint Elizabeth in New Jersey, and I am also a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the State of New Jersey. I moved to South Bend, Indiana where I am currently a care giver (Steward) to people with intellectual impairments who are unable to serve themselves. After my training is completed, I expect to go back to my country to share with my fellow Tanzanians what I learned in the U.S., for making changes and a better life for low-income people especially youngsters and seniors. Thank you for the opportunity to share with you about the Daughters of Mary and our needs in Tanzania. For more information about the Daughters of Mary, please go to www.daughtersofmary-tabora.org

It all happened too fast. Friday was the celebration of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. Earlier this week, our U.S. Catholic Bishops consecrated our nation to the Sacred Heart as we prepare to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the Birth of our Nation – the Declaration of Independence. They were gathered for their annual June meeting in Orlando, June 10-12. The idea is to pray that our country could be formed more in the image of Christ the Universal King. In our care for the poor and vulnerable, in our fostering of truth and charity, our church contributes to justice in our world. This, we all admit, is sorely needed.

We’d like to join in 250 hours of Eucharistic Adoration and 250 works of mercy. To that end, the Knights of Columbus are again sponsoring their overnight vigil before the Exposed Blessed Sacrament on July 2-3. It will begin at 8 pm Thursday night and continue through Friday at noon, with Mass following at 12:10 pm. These will be in the Divine Mercy Chapel. The sign-up sheet will be posted at the chapel. Knights will be present for each hour – you can sign up for your hour there – or just come! Perhaps we can get enough parishioners to make up the 250 prayer hours. But the Diocese is organizing as well.

Also, we encourage Works of Mercy – remember they are: (Corporal – from Matthew 25:31-46) Feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty, clothe the naked, shelter the homeless, visit the imprisoned, care for the sick, bury the dead, (and Spiritual – from Catechism) instruct the ignorant, counsel the doubtful, admonish the sinner, comfort the afflicted, forgive offenses, bear wrongs patiently, and pray for the living and dead. Memorial Of The Immaculate Heart Of The Blessed Virgin Mary
JUNE 13, 2026. ---- HOLY GOSPEL

Each year Jesus' parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover, and when he was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom.
After they had completed its days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it.
Thinking that he was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances, but not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him.
After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers,
listening to them and asking them questions,
and all who heard him were astounded
at his understanding and his answers.
When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him,
"Son, why have you done this to us?
Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety."
And he said to them,
"Why were you looking for me?
Did you not know that I must be in my Father's house?"
But they did not understand what he said to them.
He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart.
Luke 2:41-51
