Did you by chance read Isaiah 9 today?

What a chapter! It was the comparison Isaiah made between fire and wickedness for me today— an all consuming and catching on whatever is around it— kind of fire 🔥

I couldn’t help but think about the saying, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with,” in an entirely different way. Y’all, we are not called to be afraid of people or isolate ourselves from the world, but we are called to be wise about what we allow to influence us… WHO and WHAT gets our time makes a huge difference. What I continually surround myself with will impact me whether I think it will or want it to or not!

Fire spreads so fast, and once it gets going, we have little to no control over where it goes. Our reading today reminded me to pay attention to what I’m standing close enough to catch.
Whew! That’s a word!

If you read today’s chapter I can’t wait to hear what stood out 🙌🏻

Wow. Good morning. Today’s reading took me right back to the time I started reading one chapter of the Bible everyday!

“My son, I warn you to be careful about any other teaching. There will always be more and more books to read. If you try to study everything, you will become very weak and tired.” Ecclesiastes 12:12 EASY

I have always LOVED learning. Personal development books, business books, leadership books, Christian authors, secular authors… give me alllll the books. 😂

I remember getting to a place where I just felt worn out and unsettled in pretty much every area of my life. The more I consumed, the less fulfilled I felt. That was right around the time I felt the Lord drawing me into His Word every single day. I reached out to a few girlfriends to join me. (Not sure why, but the accountability kept me consistent!)

For a season, the Bible became pretty much the only thing I was reading AND it proved to be WAYYYYY more than enough. ❤️

It changed me. It changed everything. I still read other books and love learning from people, but now I know the Source. It is actually pretty cool how often I read something and think, “Wait… God already said that.” 😂 Maybe Ecclesiastes has gotten to me after 12 chapters, but there really is nothing new under the sun.

Tomorrow we start Song of Solomon! It’s a good place to start! Join us!

To every woman celebrating Mother’s Day today, staying in the Word daily has not only changed my life, I truly believe it has saved my life. Looking to Jesus every single day as our source may be one of the greatest gifts we can give the children we’ve been entrusted with.

Being a mom has only revealed my need for Him over and over again.

There are days I wonder where He is in the middle of it all. Then there are days I look back and realize He’s been walking beside me the whole time.

I truly couldn’t do it without Him. 🤍

It’s as if I could see nothing else when I read my chapter for the day.

“It is He who made us and not we ourselves…” Psalms 100:3a

Here’s what I’m realizing…if He made us, then He’s the One who knows us best. So many of us are exhausted trying to figure ourselves out apart from the One who created us in the first place. We look to culture, social media, relationships, success, feelings, personalities, achievements… hoping something will finally explain who we are and why we’re here. BUT where and who will we actually learn that from?

We go back to the Creator. We get in His Word. We spend time with Him.
We pray and we let Him shape us instead of the world around us shaping us. The created cannot fully understand themselves apart from the Creator who designed them.

The more time we spend with God, the clearer everything becomes. What I’ve come to learn is as I spend time with the Lord, little by little He reveals who He is, and in the process, I start understanding who I am too.

There’s something about daily manna…

God never asked them to gather for a lifetime. He asked them to come back every.single.day.

That’s what this is. This isn’t just a devotional. It’s a companion for learning how to read one chapter of the Bible a day.

✔️Not pressure.
✔️Not perfection.
✔️Just provision.

We’re in Psalms 49 today — Wisdom & Poetry, Volume One, and I can tell you this… every single time I open His Word, He shows up…Not always how I expect, but always exactly how I need.

This isn’t about reading to check a box.
It’s about showing up hungry… and letting Him feed you. Come get your manna in the morning. 🤍

“Put on your sword, O mighty warrior! You are so glorious, so majestic!”
—Psalm 45:3 (NLT)

Reading that this morning immediately brought to my mind the armor of God in Ephesians. “Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place… Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.” —Ephesians 6:14–17 (NIV)

Before my son reunified with his bio-mom, this was something we made a priority together. We spent time memorizing the armor of God so those words would be tucked away in his heart. Even if he doesn’t fully understand it yet, he’ll have it. What I didn’t expect was how much memorizing it would strengthen me too.

Life reminds us pretty quickly that we need that armor every single day.
Truth.
Righteousness.
The Gospel.
Faith.
Salvation…and the sword of the Spirit…
which is the Word of God.

If a king going into battle needed his sword…how much more do we need ours?

It’s interesting how this works. One day I can feel completely fine and at peace, and the next day I feel like I’m wrestling again. Sometimes, for me, discouragement doesn’t even need a reason to spiral. Sometimes I just get down.

Even David, a man after God’s own heart, had to encourage his soul when he got downcast and discouraged. Even though he had seen God move mightily in his life time after time, he still had to replace whatever lies he was believing with truth.

What a reminder of where our help comes from. Just like David is reminding himself every time he needs encouragement, we should too... the deep longing and need we have within can only be filled with Christ alone.

Too often, if I’m not careful, I start looking to things in this world to fill that deep longing. In reality, my contentment can only come from the Lord.

Everything else is temporary. He is the source.
