Late Saturday night in Manatee County, tragedy struck when a speeding car carrying four teenagers crashed, killing two and leaving two others seriously injured.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 2:15 a.m. on Silverleaf Avenue near U.S. Highway 301 in Parrish. A 19-year-old driver from Ellenton lost control of his Dodge Charger at high speed, veered off the road, and slammed into several trees. Both the driver and a 19-year-old male passenger from Parrish died at the scene. The two surviving passengers—a 17-year-old male from Parrish and a 16-year-old female from New York—were rushed to the hospital in critical and serious condition. Investigators noted that only the 16-year-old girl was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
This heartbreaking accident is a sobering reminder to always drive safely and wear your seatbelt, no matter the distance. If you have any information that may assist in the investigation, please contact the Florida Highway Patrol immediately.
