Our statements of belief come from the following passages:
Mark 12:28-31 “One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, “Of all the commandments, which is the most important?” 29“The most important one,” answered Jesus, “is this: ‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30Love the Lord your God with all your
heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength. 31The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”
Ephesians 4:2-6 “ 2Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. 3Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.4There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; 5one Lord, one faith, one baptism; 6one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”
James 2:14-19 “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?15Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. 18But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.” Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds. 19You believe that there is one God. Even the demons believe that—and shudder.”
Galatians 6:7-8 “7Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. 8Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”
Matthew 21:22 “22If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.”
Romans 8:28 “28And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, whoi have been called according to his purpose.”
Having understood these passages, Spirit of Unity Church affirms:
God is good. Our God is all powerful, resides in everyone and everything and shines through us. Therefore, we are one with God and God’s goodness. Through positive prayer God can bring transformation. Demonstrating God’s Love in thought, word, and deed brings us closer to God.
