Worship service with Bible Study immediately Following We are an Episcopal Congregation that is striving to be true to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We teach, preach and strive to walk out what our Lord has commanded us in Matthew 22:37-39,

“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and first commandment. And a second

is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” As a mission minded congregation we share God’s love with others by providing food for the hungry and a safe place for those who are seeking the will of God in their lives.

WONDERFUL NEWS

The Plant A Pail program that St. George’s sponsored was recognized for its work in the community. It was awarded second place in the International Master Gardeners Conference. We are definitely making a difference in helping people address Food Insecurity. Congratulations to Deacon Mike and the wonderful group of individuals that he has working with him in this valuable program.

A message from Lois-Lynn Bellemare

Deacon Rocks-Anne Paul passed away peacefully on June 10th. We are praising God as she is now healed and dancing with Jesus.

St. George's was her last appointment serving as Deacon and the people here meant a lot to her.

A celebration of life will follow later this summer.

We will keep you updated as we find out more information.

We want to thank all of our wonderful volunteers in the Food Pantry and Diaper Ministry for all of their work today. The weather was extremely hot, but everyone hung in there. Your hard work is truly appreciated and know that you are making a difference in the community.

A reminder about our Spring Fling. Please remember to get the word out to your friends and neighbors.

HOMELESS CAMP IN NEED OF CLEANUP

Many parishioners are probably not aware of the ongoing problem with homeless people on our property, but it came to a head this past week when the Code Enforcement officer arrived and cited us for a large amount of trash in the woods behind the church. With police officers giving trespass notice to the people there we now need to be diligent in reporting any activity in the woods to the police so they can remove people before we encounter this issue again.

However, we are tasked with cleaning up the trash left behind, which is considerable. It includes tents, mattresses, grills, blankets, shopping carts, hypodermic needles and a myriad of miscellaneous junk. We have contracted with a professional trash removal company to do the clean up using a small loader and personal protective equipment, including contamination suits and respirators. This is obviously a non-budgeted cost of $4,500.

Any help in underwriting some of this cost would be greatly appreciated by your Vestry as we continue to walk a fine line financially.

Sincerely,

Wayne Ford
Jr. Warden

PLANT A PAIL:

St. George's has partnered with the Manatee County Master Gardener Program to help combat Food Insecurity in our area. In addition to our Food Pantry, we have initiated a program called "Plant A Pail" where we help instruct individuals on how to grow their own produce in very small areas. One of these areas is in 5 gallon containers. We will be hosting one of these events on Saturday, Feb. 18th. The Master Gardener Program has agreed to open this event to our church members as a thank you. And of course you can grow your own stuff or donate it to our Food Pantry to give to those in need.

If you would like to participate, please contact Deacon Mike by Feb. 10th so that we can add you to the list. There is no charge for this, as the Master Gardeners will be providing all of the necessary supplies. What a wonderful way to learn a new hobby at no cost to you.
