Leaving an abusive situation is often the most dangerous time for a survivor, which is why having a safety plan matters.

Small preparations can save lives: keeping copies of important documents, setting aside emergency cash, building trusted relationships with neighbors, and creating signals for help during emergencies.

Safety planning is not paranoia. It is protection.

Supporting someone experiencing abuse is not always loud or obvious. Sometimes safety begins with quiet support.

Simple things like placing resources in restroom stalls or providing discreet items with hotline numbers and websites can give someone access to help without putting them in danger.

Faith communities have the opportunity to create spaces that are both safe and supportive for those suffering in silence.

Abuse rarely starts with bruises.
It often begins quietly with control, manipulation, isolation, guilt, or subtle disrespect. Over time, it escalates so gradually that many don’t realize they’re in danger until the damage is deep.

Abuse can happen to anyone, and unchecked abuse too often ends in tragedy. Recognizing the signs early matters.

Prayers requested for the Campbell family during this time of loss.

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved former pastor, Pastor Samuel G. Campbell. Pastor Campbell was more than a shepherd to our congregation — he was a faithful servant of God whose life, leadership, kindness, and unwavering commitment left a lasting impact on the Church of the Oranges family and the community at large.

Through his ministry, countless lives were touched, encouraged, and strengthened in faith. His dedication to serving others, preaching the Gospel, and pouring into the spiritual life of this church will never be forgotten. Pastor Campbell’s legacy of love, compassion, wisdom, and service will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

We want the Campbell family to know that the Church of the Oranges family deeply loves and appreciates Pastor Campbell and the tremendous contributions he made to our church and surrounding community throughout the years. During this difficult season, we ask that you please keep the Campbell family lifted in prayer, asking God to surround them with comfort, peace, strength, and hope.
