Bethel Church has been dedicated by the Circuit Court as a monument to the people of Clarke County and is managed by a Board of Trustees. The building is registered with the Commonwealth of Virginia as an historic landmark, and the Trustees depend on donations from the membership and from the public for maintenance, repair and upkeep.

Revisiting the Quaker question again. I still don't have any documentation on a Meeting that existed on the Bethel grounds but I thought, what if it was not connected with Hopewell Monthly Meeting?

We automatically go to Hopewell records when questions about a Friends Meeting arise but there were other Monthly Meetings in the general area. The actual closest historical Monthly Meeting to Bethel would have been Crooked Run Monthly Meeting, north of Cedarville which I use as the focal point of the Robert McKay Clan Reunion. It is now the home of Nineveh Presbyterian Church. Since their records were incorporated into Hopewell Friends History I have doubts if anything could be found there.

The next one that comes to mind is Fairfax Monthly Meeting (Waterford). It was also laid down many years ago. Perhaps something could be found there.

Then there is Goose Creek (Lincoln) which is still active.

Hopefully we can find something that will put a stamp on this elusive subject.

If anyone reading this remembers two young women who came to our Annual Lessons and Carols Candlelight Service back on December 21. They took pictures of some of us and the church, presumably to be used in a write-up or story about Bethel. I haven't heard anything since that day and I was curious to see if anyone here has any insight on this. Was a story published? If so where? I would like to add it to the collection of Bethel Memorabilia I have on the website.

Some of you may remember NPR's All Things Considered did a piece on us back in 2008. I have that one listed as well.
