All are invited to visit our beautiful Diocesan Shrine.

In 1926, the people and pastor of Sacred Heart Parish in Bowmansville, NY decided to construct two shrines- one devoted to the Immaculate Conception and one to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, completed in Fall 1926, is constructed of rough, discolored stones; even when it was new, it gave the appearance of having been there for many years. The shrine dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus is made of smooth field stones of all shapes and sizes, represent the different peoples and nations of the Kingdom of Christ. The altar is constructed of thousands of pieces of granite and marble, skillfully masoned together into a Roman-style altar. The outer walls of this shrine form the shape of a heart, symbolic of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The statue of Our Lady stands at the top of the heart. Smaller statues representing the Annunciation and the Assumption are in smaller grottoes.

Today we celebrate the feast day of Blessed Carlo Acutis, recognized for his profound devotion to the Eucharist. Before his passing, he created a website to document and promote Eucharistic miracles throughout history. He is a Millennial who is expected to be canonized in 2025.

"The Eucharist is the highway to Heaven." - Carlos Acutis.

To mark the one-year anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel, Pope Francis has called on Catholics to observe a day of prayer and fasting for peace on October 7. The Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa has also asked the clergy and lay faithful of his diocese to observe October 7 as a day of prayer, fasting and penance. To complement these efforts, Archbishop Broglio invited the U.S. bishops to join Pope Francis, and the Christians of the Holy Land “in fervent prayer for an end to the violence, for the prompt and safe return of all hostages, and for the conversion of hearts so that hatred may be overcome, opening a pathway to reconciliation and peace.”
