What a great week at camp!
We spent time making diamond art, tie-dye shirts, seashell-decorated treasure chests, dinosaurs, and prayer hearts. The kids also learned how to make challah, a traditional Jewish braided bread, and we had a special guest come in and teach them how to make a dessert. Thank you Jenell Mertz! It was fun watching them try something new and get involved. We also spent time working through eight lessons on the Beatitudes and learning more about Jesus and what His teachings mean in everyday life.
Each evening, we also came together for worship.
And then there was all the fun! We had water balloons, water toys, water slides, sprinklers, and water guns on the sunny days. When the rain kept us inside, we had glow-stick game night, with glow sticks, glow Jenga, glow frisbees, glow balls, and bean bag toss with a glowing target. And, of course, snack bar was a big hit! The kids used their official God’s Goodie tickets to choose from great snacks! On our last day, the kids sang for our cooking staff as a thank-you for all the meals they prepared for us. Later, when parents arrived to pick them up, the kids sang for their families and gave them a little glimpse of their week at camp.
A huge thank you to our nurses for taking such good care of everyone, and a special welcome to our new nurse who joined us this year. We are so glad you were part of camp!
And to our devoted counselors, thank .you. Thank you for your patience, your energy, your encouragement, and for giving so much of yourselves to these kids all week.
Thank you as well to our cooking staff, maintanence volunteers, and everyone who worked behind the scenes. So much goes into making camp happen, and we truly appreciate each person who helped.
Most of all, we hope the kids went home with new friends, new experiences, happy memories, and a little more of God’s love in their hearts.
What a memorable week! Here are some smiling faces.
