I learned of the latest rapture false prophecy on Wednesday (the 24th - I figured I was ok since I was learning of this from some incredibly faithful Christians, and if THEY were still around, it must not have happened!!)
Many things bother me about this.
o Many people with sincere hearts lost EVERYTHING - cars, homes, retirement accounts, relationships, and, tragically, some lost their faith in God.
Should they have known better?
Yes. Jesus Himself was clear as crystal about placing dates for His return:
“But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father…” (Matthew 24:36)
The very fact that:
It is clear in God’s word written we should NOT set dates (and, by implication follow those who DO so!), yet literally hundreds of thousands, if not millions, are deceived by false prophets and prophecy. Which speaks to a LARGER issue - people don’t KNOW the scriptures!
This leads to deception.
Head knowledge alone is NOT sufficient, however.
We need the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit at work in and through us.
And we need the spiritual gift of discerning of spirits.
o Another thing that REALLY bothers me :
If one didn’t buy into this “prediction”, ad hominems were tossed out :
Scoffer
Mocker
Unbeliever
Heretic
No. Some of us actually have a BASIC knowledge of the bible - again , Jesus is CLEAR that “only the Father” knows the day and hour. You don’t need a seminary degree to understand what Jesus said!
Also, we’ve seen this movie before!

(Seriously, the author came out with a “Rapture sequel” a year later because a “calculation was off” - Edgar Whisinant)
Shameful!!
I believe Jesus is returning at a time future.
On that day the dead in Christ rise first, then we who are alive will meet Him in the air and FORM HIS ROYAL ENTOURAGE THAT ACCOMPANIES HIM TO EARTH WHERE HE SETS UP HIS EVERLASTING KINGDOM!
So live as though He’s coming TODAY!
Stay immersed in His word-written.
Keep doing the stuff - evangelism, ministry to the poor, praying for the sick, demonstrating compassion and God’s love!
Jesus said that false prophets, false teachers, false apostles would be among God’s people; “Don’t be deceived!” (Matthew 24:11).
God really loves us. He pursues and reaches out to us in so many different ways.
Don’t let fear guide you.
FEAR GOD - and let Him lead you into rich, green pastures and refreshing quiet waters.
