When the Holy Spirit moved and the apostles began to speak in tongues, many onlookers thought they were drunk and were dismissive.
But others were genuinely wanting to understand. God worked through Peter, who gave an impassioned sermon. Hundreds of people put their faith in Jesus and the church was born!

After Jesus ascended to heaven, the disciples retreated to The Upper Room where they waited for the Holy Spirit. It was a time of great anticipation and great hope!

Just before his crucifixion, Jesus met with his disciples in The Upper Room. It was a somber time.

Then, just weeks later the disciples were together again in The Upper Room. The mood was so much different this time. There was anticipation! There was hope!

After Jesus ascended to heaven, the disciples retreated to The Upper Room where they waited for the Holy Spirit. It was a time of great anticipation and great hope!

After Jesus rose from the grave, he appeared to many people — as many as 500 at one time! As you might imagine, there was much anticipation as to what would happen next.

His disciples thought for sure he would immediately establish his kingdom on earth, as was prophesied in the Old Testament book of Isaiah.

But, that’s not what happened.

When Jesus arose from the dead, his disciples thought he would establish his kingdom immediately, fulfilling centuries-old prophecy. But, that's not what happened. Instead, Jesus told them to wait.

The Bible teaches us that self-control should be a natural result of being a Christ follower. Yet, it can be so hard at times, right?!

If you are struggling with sin, know that God has provided a way for you to conquer it. And all it takes is surrender.

Sounds strange, doesn't it? Conquering by surrender? Yes, when that surrender is to Jesus!

In a world that encourages indulgences and says "speak your mind," trying to maintain self control can feel like a losing battle.
