Temple Solel In 1964, two groups looking for a spiritual home in Bowie, MD found each other and these 18 families became the heart of what is now Temple Solel.

From this foundation, we have grown into a connected community made special by the diversity of our members. We are a reform Jewish congregation serving Prince George's, Anne Arundel, and surrounding counties.

My family joined Temple Solel when I was two years old, and it quickly became far more than a synagogue — it became our spiritual home and extended family. Every meaningful life cycle event in my life has taken place at Temple Solel, from my consecration and Bat Mitzvah to my wedding and now my grandchildren’s baby namings and bris ceremonies.

I am proud to be part of a five-generation Temple Solel family. I also had the privilege of traveling to Israel twice with my Temple Solel family, experiences that deepened my connection to Judaism and our congregation. It is truly an honor to serve the community that has meant so much to me and my family throughout our lives.

Jewish Federations of North America mourn alongside the community of the Islamic Center in San Diego following today’s horrific shooting. No one should ever fear for their safety while gathering in prayer, community, or worship.

This tragedy comes as more than 400 Jewish Federation leaders from across the country arrive In Washington, DC, to advocate lawmakers for $1 billion in security funding to help protect houses of worship and faith-based institutions nationwide.

Today’s attack is yet another painful reminder that the threat facing religious communities in America is real, urgent, and growing.
