St. Matthew’s Welcome Statement
Inclusive Community. St. Matthew's United Methodist Church is an inclusive church, connected to our community, and committed to welcoming all persons in every phase of church life. We are a Reconciling Chur
ch. We choose to live by Christ’s example, affirming that all people are created in the image of God. We celebrate our diversity of sexual orientation, gender identity, race, age, marital status, nationality, physical abilities, mental abilities, and economic position. United Methodist Men
“Every Man Shares in Evangelism, Mission, and Spiritual Life.”
Purpose: United Methodist Men shall be a creative, supportive fellowship of men who seek to know Jesus Christ, to grow spiritually and to seek daily his will. [Our] primary purpose is to declare the centrality of Christ in the lives of men and in all their relationships. The major concerns are:
• To encourage knowledge of and support for the total
mission of The United Methodist Church
• To engage in evangelism by sharing the fullness of the
gospel in its personal and social dimensions
• To clarify and speak to the identity and role of men in
contemporary society
• To seek commitment to discipleship
• To study and become familiar with the United Methodist
Church, its organization, doctrines, and beliefs
• To cooperate with all units of United Methodist Men in
obtaining these objectives through district, conference,
jurisdiction, and church-wide goals
Men seeking membership in a local United Methodist Men’s Fellowship shall subscribe to the “Purpose” of United Methodist Men and to these personal objectives:
• Engage daily in Bible study and prayer
• Bear witness to Christ’s way in daily work and in all personal
contacts through words and actions
• Engage in some definite Christian service

Women in Faith (formally known as United Methodist Women)
What is Women in Faith? Women in Faith is a supportive, inclusive Christian membership organization where women grow spiritually, develop as leaders, and serve and work to create a world in which all women, children, and youth thrive. Women in Faith is celebrated as the women’s ministry of The United Methodist Church. Our Women in Faith chapter is very active in our area and is the largest in the Baltimore Washington Conference. There are three small groups, called circles. They are the Friendship Circle, Martha Circle, and Koinonia Circle. Annual activities include an afternoon tea in the fall and an Epiphany brunch in early January. Check the events page for Circle meeting times and information. Conduct and Page Guidelines
