BOWERS THEN and NOW # 1
This is the first in a new series of photographs that will be published here attempting to show the THEN and NOW photographs of buildings, businesses or landscapes located in Bowers Beach. This will be done by using the location and angle that the "THEN" photograph was taken for the postcard, then use that location and angle for the "NOW" photograph. The photographs will be accompanied by a little history of that area in Bowers.
Saxton United Methodist Church was built in 1879 on old Bowers road. About 1893 it was cut in half and moved from its original location to the corner of Main and Church streets. In 1999 the church was relocated 10 feet from church street so modern fire equipment could maneuver around the corner. The church is listed on the National Register of Historic Sites.
