Antioch Methodist Protestant Church before unification, the church can claim the name "Victory" for many reasons. In 1897 plans were drawn by architect Hume of Atlanta, a

nd the structure was built by J. Henry McDaniel with help from the people in the community. The name Victory was chosen to honor the wife of Charles McDaniel, Bowdon College founder and fallen Civil War leader. Tragedy struck in 1999 when lightning struck, destroying the famous 102 year old building but not the spirit of the members. They immediately began plans to rebuild their beloved church, duplicating its original construction. As in the first building, the pine wood used for rebuilding came from farms of McDaniel descendants in the Victory community, Alvin Chambers and David Tisinger. Special thanks were extended to the Joyner family for its construction. Its large bell was salvaged and now hangs outside the church although it was cracked by the heat and its fall during the fire. An exact replica of Victory Church was completed thanks to the generosity of the community and people from throughout the country. The congregation today sings "Victory" with much heart and thankfulness and welcomes you to join them.

PASTOR’S CORNER
June 7, 2026

This Homecoming Sunday, we will be led in Worship by my good friend and brother in Christ, Martin Watts, who has helped inspire my own faith across the years. I hope he might inspire yours as well, as we worship together! Welcome Home Victory!

I remember when I was off at West Point, I couldn’t wait to get away from the pressures of cadet life, and make my way home, usually with a few cadet buddies. My mom and dad had relocated to Northeast Pennsylvania during my Sophomore year, and it was just a couple hour ride home for Thanksgiving break.

The ride through the beautiful fall colors of the Pocono Mountains of Northeastern Pennsylvania fueled the anticipation of the sensational season’s aromas, from turkey and dressing and casseroles to apple pies and fresh fires in the fireplace. My mind was filled with thoughts of the quality family time with loved ones I hadn’t seen for some time and couldn’t wait to enjoy. It would always be a fabulous homecoming. Even better memories overflow my heart today, as I think of my own children and now grandchildren coming home.

I wonder how it makes our Heavenly Father feel, as we make our way home, turning back to Him, and what it will be like when we finally make it Home? I can only imagine it will be far better than anything we could possibly envision. I understand there will be a banquet. The aromas will be sweeter than any of my fondest memories. I wonder who we’ll be seated with? Maybe loved ones we have missed for so long, whose faces once dimmed by illness and age, will be shining with love, life, joy and peace, where there will be no more goodbyes, no more burdens to bear, no more tears, only rejoicing in their presence together with our Savior. The One who reconciles all things together for the good of those who love Him. It will even be better than that! I love the song “I can only imagine” written by Bart Millard and sung by MercyMe. Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor mind conceived, what God has prepared for those who love Him. I can only imagine, will I dance for you Jesus, or to my knees will I fall, will I sing Hallelujah or will I be able to speak at all? I can only imagine…

As we gather for Homecoming here at Old Victory Church, we celebrate the cherished memories and the goodness of God that has carried this church through generations. We rejoice in the lives that have gone before us, lives changed, prayers answered, hymns sung, and the souls that have been saved within these walls. We know even this sweet fellowship is only a glimpse of the greater Homecoming that awaits us in our Faith, Hope and Love of God.

Until then, may we continue to love one another, encourage one another, and faithfully serve the Lord together in all that we do, inspired to hear those words “Well done.” As we contemplate 2 Corinthians 5: 17-21, let us rejoice together that He is reconciling and making all things new.

Thanks be to God.

I look forward to celebrating in worship together,

Cliff

Many folks have commented on how they loved to hear our church bell chime. What many don't know, is that after the church burned down, we almost couldn't replace the bell. Thanks to the efforts of long time member and servant of the church, Alvin Chambers, we acquired the last bell cast in the United States. We hope everyone can attend our homecoming and the 25th anniversary of the rebuilding of Old Victory Church.

One of the longest days in the history of Old Victory Church. Hear the story of that day from those that were there. On June 7th, we will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the rebuilding of the Church as well as our annual homecoming service. After the 11:00 service, we will have a true and authentic dinner on the grounds. Old members, current members, friends, and family are all invited…we hope to see you there to help us celebrate this special occasion that was only made possible through the grace of God.

Pastor’s Corner

May 3, 2026

This week’s message from John 14: 1-12 centers on Jesus’ comforting words: “Do not let your hearts be troubled… believe in me.” He reminds us that peace is not found in changing circumstances, but in trusting Him. Faith does not remove life’s troubles; it anchors us in the One who walks with us through them.

Jesus makes a profound and personal claim: “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life No one comes to the Father except through me.” In Him, we see God fully revealed. While some struggle with the exclusivity of this statement, we are not His judge. He is just and the name Jesus literally means God saves. We know the fullness of God’s saving love through Christ, where it has been fully revealed. It does inspire His command in The Great Commission. We are to share and spread the gospel in love.

As believers, we are not called to judge others’ eternal destiny, but to trust God’s character and the Truth He has revealed in His Word. At the same time, we are given both the gift of knowing Christ and the responsibility to reflect Him through humility, grace, and love in our daily lives. God continues to remind us and to inspire us to Love Him and others, as we love ourselves. Love without truth is sentiment, and Truth without love can be tyranny. Jesus provides both love and truth, in perfect harmony. He teaches us to follow Him in doing the same.

When we stray or seek meaning apart from Him, we are called to repentance, a turning back to God, who always welcomes us. Ultimately, Jesus invites us to be still, believe, and trust. He is our way, our truth, and our life. In Him, we find our true home, and His presence within us becomes a light that impacts others.

I hope to see you Sunday-
Grace and Peace,

Cliff
