AUTHORITY OF THE BELIEVER

Ephesians 1:17-23
King James Version
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
20 Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places,
21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
22 And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
23 Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Ephesians 2:4-6
King James Version
4 But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Ephesians 6:12
King James Version
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Colossians 2:13-15
King James Version
13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

Matt 28:18 (NKJ)
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”

At His ascension, Jesus immediately transferred His authority to the believers, the Church. We are responsible for executing and enforcing His will in the earth.

Not one time in the NT is the Church taught to pray to God or Jesus to do anything about the devil. NO.
The Believer is told to something about the devil. YOU DO IT!

AND if YOU are not using your authority, then nothing is being done about the devil’s stealing, killing and destroying. Right?

Rev 20:1-3 Jesus has done all He’s going to do about the devil.

Luke 10:19 (Young’s Literal Translation)
“lo, I give to you the authority to tread upon serpents and scorpions (demons, evil spirits), and on all the power of the enemy, and nothing by any means shall hurt you;”

GOD HIMSELF is the power behind our authority, He has delegated His Power to us
Example of policeman directing traffic (the government gives him his authority)
You have authority to stop the works of the devil (sickness, disease, lack, etc.)
1 John 4:4 You have overcome satan who is in this world, because Greater is He that is in you

Luke 10:19
King James Version
19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

1 John 4:4
King James Version
4 Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

2. Mark 16:15-18
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

The VERY FIRST sign that will follow a BELIEVER (not pastor, evangelist) is that they shall cast out devils.
THEN YOU MUST HAVE SOME AUTHORITY from SOMEONE to do this…We have the Authority He gave us…IN HIS NAME, Jesus.

READ Colossions 1:13 We are delivered from the authority of darkness…

Matt 18:18 YOU have the authority to bind and loose on the earth, NOW, not in Heaven. The works of the devil are here on the earth where you live, you do something about him. Jesus said, “

Colossians 1:12-13 King James Version
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:

Matthew 18:18
King James Version
18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Matthew 16:18-19
King James Version
18 And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. 19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

James 4:7 “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”

FLEE from YOU, not Jesus. FLEE means to run from as in terror.
Not get somebody else to resist the devil, YOU Resist.

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary (opponent, enemy) the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9Whom resist stedfast in the faith (YOU resist steadfastly in YOUR faith), knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

YOU are instructed to do something about it, which means YOU must have authority to do so.

Ephesians 4:27 “Neither give place to the devil.”
YOU are not to give the devil ANY place in you. NO PERMISSION.

HOW? Walk in Love. Be quick to repent and forgive. Give no offense and take no offense.

ARE YOU A BELIEVER YET???

Ephesians 6:10-18 The Armor of God KJV

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

We Need Faith!

Without faith it is impossible to please him…

Hebrews 11:1-12
New King James Version
11 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.
4 By faith Abel offered to God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and through it he being dead still speaks.
5 By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God.

6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
8 By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going. 9 By faith he dwelt in the land of promise as in a foreign country, dwelling in tents with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise; 10 for he waited for the city which has foundations, whose builder and maker is God.
11 By faith Sarah herself also received strength to conceive seed, and she bore a child when she was past the age, because she judged Him faithful who had promised. 12 Therefore from one man, and him as good as dead, were born as many as the stars of the sky in multitude—innumerable as the sand which is by the seashore.

What is faith? “complete trust or confidence in someone or something.”

It's going to take faith to get us through this life.

The just shall live by faith

Romans 1:17 NKJV
For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, “The just shall live by faith.”

It's going to take Faith to get us to heaven.

1 Corinthians 15:51-53
New King James Version
51 Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed— 52 in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.

Do you believe that God is going to resurrect your dead body? How is it that you can believe that will happen they cannot or will not believe God for the issues in your life?

An example would be tithing. Tithing requires faith. (I am not preaching on tithing today. It is just a concrete example of something that requires faith.)

Malachi 3:10-12 NKJV
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse,
That there may be food in My house,
And try Me now in this,”
Says the Lord of hosts,
“If I will not open for you the windows of heaven
And pour out for you such blessing
That there will not be room enough to receive it.
11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes,
So that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground,
Nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,”
Says the Lord of hosts;
12 “And all nations will call you blessed,
For you will be a delightful land,”
Says the Lord of hosts.

It is 10% of your income.

If you make $3000 per month, 10% equals $300.

Oh, and should that 10% be on your gross income or your net income?

Yes it takes faith, especially if you are on a tight budget. But maybe if you put this in the practice, God will get you off your tight budget.

What is your Challenge today?

God did split the red sea for the children of Israel. Do you believe he will make away for you?

God gives the Holy Ghost to those that obey him.

Acts 5:29-32
New King James Version
29 But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men. 30 The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree. 31 Him God has exalted to His right hand to be Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins. 32 And we are His witnesses to these things, and so also is the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”

Somewhere sometime in your Christian life (and probably more than once), God is going to force you to take a step out the water. He's going to bring you to the point where you do need to step out of the plane into thin air.

The fearful will not inherit the kingdom of God…

Revelation 21:8
But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.

Fear is the opposite of believing in God. Fear is believing that God will not do what he said

Faith works by love. The Bible says there is no fear in love. Do you believe that God is a loving God?

1 John 4:18
King James Version
18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18
New Living Translation
18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

Faith grows as it is exercised. The Bible says we go from faith to faith.

A prayer: Lord, help us to stand on the bridge of faith and not collapse into the pit of despair.

How about you today? Are you going to take that first step to kick your addiction or conquer your fear that's been holding you back?

Let's pray!

MEET KELLEY! She has restored my faith in humanity (somewhat 🤔).

For years she was a hopeless alcoholic. I felt certain one day we would find her dead under a bridge.

But amazingly, something sparked inside of her (Jesus) and she has made a dramatic turnaround. She now has a stable place to live, is regaining her health and cares about her appearance. She helps at our church (Living Waters) on Sunday mornings and faithfully attends the 12-step recovery program at Flatirons Community Church.

Once again, I have learned never to write someone off as hopeless. It is not over until it's over!
