At All Souls, we root our work in both TRADITION and IMAGINATION. We are trying to balance looking to the past, near and far, to guide us into the future, while also embracing creativity as we think about our place in the world today. We try to make this clear in our Sunday services, the opportunities to connect throughout the week, and in how we build partnerships to serve the world around us. This is what made Prodigy Coffeehouse] such a good fit as a partner, since they are also living out these values in the work they do.
At first glance, Prodigy seems like a typical coffee shop--they're conveniently located and serve great drinks, in a fun, colorful atmosphere. They've got all the best parts of a coffee shop. But they are also fearlessly reimagining the way the hiring and training process works. Instead of the traditional application and interview process to hire staff, marginalized young adults interested in working at Prodigy can go through their paid apprentice program. The program not only has the possibility of long-term work at the end, but also equips participants with the skills to build sustainable careers and enrich their city. As a result of this unique hiring process and their commitment to equitable pay and treatment, Prodigy has an abundance of applicants at a time when many other similar businesses are struggling to find staff.
All Souls is committed to not only supporting Prodigy Coffeehouse] in its mission, but also connecting our communities so we can learn from and encourage one another. Want to be a part of this?
