Today, last day of the Easter Octave, is Divine Mercy Sunday! God’s love for us is made incarnate in every aspect of Jesus’s life. Through him, we can know and love God, and we are forgiven of all our sins.⁣

In just a few days, we'll celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday. But you don't need to wait until then to thank God for his love. The Divine Mercy Chaplet is a powerful devotion, and some people pray it every day at 3 PM — the hour of Christ's death on the cross. And all you need to pray it is a regular rosary, a few minutes, and a heart full of gratitude and love.⁣

Follow the link to pray the Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and make sure to remember all of us at St. Joseph Parish Boston as you pray!⁣

As Catholics, we recognize the inherent dignity of our body and its health. Our bodies are the very temple of our soul and the Holy Spirit. May we take care of such a sacred gift!⁣

On this World Health Day, we are especially grateful for the Faith Community Nursing ministry, which is "the specialized practice of professional nursing that focuses on the intentional care of the spirit as part of the process of promoting holistic health and preventing or minimizing illness in a faith community.” This ministry truly recognizes the reality that we are body and soul.⁣

Don't let doubt win. Choose surrender: 'Here I am, Lord, do with me what thou wilt.' This is the ultimate winning formula for peace and purpose. ⁣

Let us pray for Sts. Perpetua and Felicity’s intercession, that we may be faithful in our Lenten observance of prayer, fasting and almsgiving. May their witness teach us to give up things of this world and to chase after the joys and excitement of Heaven!⁣

We’re not kidding about the tax code! St. Katharine Drexel’s income taxes increased significantly after World War I (when the graduated income tax was instituted), even though she gave 90% of her income to support her religious community and the Black and Indigenous communities she served. As her tax bills increased, it jeopardized the philanthropic work she was doing, so she and her family lobbied Congress. And that’s why there now exists the famous “Philadelphia Nun Provision”, which exempts anyone from income tax who has given away 90% of their income over the past 10 years.⁣

Though the Philadelphia Nun Provision is no longer in the code, she might be a good saint to ask for her intercession as we prepare our taxes this tax season! St. Katharine Drexel, pray for us!⁣

Lent begins next week on Ash Wednesday!⁣

Ash Wednesday is a day of fasting and fasting is more than living a healthy lifestyle. Fasting is the practice of recognizing that we do not live for this world, its comforts, or its distractions. Our life is most joyful when we live for Jesus, and him alone.⁣
