Unitarian Universalist Association

Unitarian Universalist Association We are Unitarian Universalists. We are brave, curious, and compassionate thinkers and doers. We are believers in what is good, what is right, and what is just.
(2764)

We are diverse in faith, ethnicity, history and spirituality, but aligned in our desire to practice our faith and beliefs in tangible ways. We foster a respectful community hallmarked by action, love, and acceptance of all people. We have radical roots and a history as self-motivated spiritual people: we think for ourselves and actively object to what we believe is wrong. We have a track record of

siding with people, love, justice, and peace. Our faith has always been motivated by a desire to contribute to the greater good. Our page here on Facebook is managed by a small team of staff at the UUA. We do our work in alignment with UU values and emerging practices for digital engagement. We actively review comments on our page and moderate commenting to ensure that comments do not cause harm or use hateful speech, that irrelevant or spam content is not shared, and that the space is not misused or employed for something other than its intended purpose. This year’s Ware Lecture at General Assembly will feature The Rt. Rev. Mariann Budde — Episcopal Bishop of Washington, D.C., and a nationally recognized voice for compassion, justice, and human dignity.

From speaking out in defense of immigrants and trans children to joining multifaith clergy resisting violence and fear, Bishop Budde’s ministry continues to speak powerfully to this moment. We are honored to welcome her as the 2026 Ware Lecturer.

Join us Saturday, June 20 at 8:00 p.m. EDT as UUs gather online and in person for one of the signature events of GA 2026.

The Ware Lecture is available exclusively to registered GA attendees and is not open to the public.

Join us at GA to help celebrate Minnesota Unitarian Universalists for their activism, community care, and resistance ministry!

It's my honor to announce that the recipients of the 2026 Volunteer Service Award are Minnesota Unitarian Universalists, for their tremendous dedication and faithful commitment to justice in organizing UUs from around the country to join in training, worship, and historic anti-ICE protests last January. We are grateful for their activism, community care, and resistance ministry.

In the sermon “Addiction, Grace, and the Long Road Home,” Rev. Phoenix Bell-Shelton Biggs reflects on addiction, recovery, shame, grace, and the healing power of community.

Too often, people struggling with addiction are met with isolation or judgment instead of care and connection. This sermon invites us to imagine something different: communities that respond with compassion, honesty, welcome, and care.

May we help build communities where people are met not with extra shame, but with dignity, support, and the reminder that they are not alone.

UUs are very good at holding complexity.

We can affirm many ways to move through the world, connect to the sacred, or sing a beloved hymn… and still hold firm to the precise dishwasher loading diagram everyone should follow when using the congregation’s kitchen. 😄

That’s the beauty of our shared UU community life: we may not have perfect agreement, but we can be our best imperfect selves practicing how to live together with care, intention, and respect for one another.

“I have never been more grateful for our Unitarian Universalist faith.”

In this clip from her February 8 sermon at Cedar Lane Unitarian Universalist Congregation, Rev. Ashley Horan, the UUA’s Vice President for Programs and Ministries, reflects on what it means to “fight with love at the center of everything we do” in a time of fear, cruelty, and deep uncertainty.

Her words are a reminder that Unitarian Universalism is not only a set of beliefs. It is a living faith carried forward by communities willing to protect one another, organize for justice, nurture courage, and keep showing up for love and dignity even in the hardest moments.

That work does not happen by accident. It takes congregations. It takes leaders. It takes care networks, organizing, training, and deep spiritual grounding. And it takes all of us investing in the future of this faith.

As Ashley says in her sermon, “the Revolution will NOT be underfunded.”

If our faith has ever helped you feel less alone, more courageous, more connected, or more hopeful, now is a powerful time to help sustain it.

✨ All gifts to the UUA will be TRIPLE MATCHED through May 31 — up to $150,000.

Thank you for helping the UUA continue showing up boldly, faithfully, and with love at the center. You can make your contribution at the link in the comments 💛

Memorial Day invites many kinds of remembrance.

Today, we hold gratitude and care for all who served in the military, including the many Unitarian Universalists who gave of themselves in service to their country and communities. We honor those who died in war and military service, and the loved ones who carry their memory forward.

We also hold close the immeasurable human cost of violence—lives lost, families changed forever, communities shattered, and generations shaped by grief.

Veterans For Peace calls for a deeper kind of remembrance: one that resists turning this day into a celebration of militarism and instead asks us to reckon honestly with the human cost of war.

At a time when war and suffering continue across the globe, may we remember that every life carries inherent worth and dignity. And may we continue the work of building communities grounded in compassion, justice, and peace.
