WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT VOTER TURNOUT! 🗳️

In the primary election last September, 772 people voted in Ward 12, Precinct 5. I thought that was dismal.

Today, at 10 minutes to 6 PM, only 85 people had voted at my polling location.

I don’t get it.

What do we need to do differently to get people to the polls? What is keeping our neighbors from voting? And most importantly, what are we going to do about it?

We need to have a serious community conversation, because elected officials are making decisions about our schools, housing, health care, public safety, transportation, development, and our neighborhoods.

We should be telling our elected officials what our communities need—not simply having decisions made for us.

Our collective votes are our power!

So after this election, let’s not just complain about the turnout. Let’s organize around it. Let’s have the conversation.
