This weekend, we gathered with hundreds of ministry partners in Quincy to Testify of God’s goodness and restorative power!

We are so grateful to continue this work of shalom seeking together. The evening was full of good food and fellowship as Christians testified through song and powerful stories of ministry.

If you missed the event and want to watch the playback, click the link below. You can also give toward our fundraiser goal as we are still receiving contributions this week. Thanks!

How should the church respond to what's happening with immigration right now?

Gregg Detwiler, founder of EGC's Intercultural Ministries initiative, wrestles honestly with that question in a new article β€” approaching immigration not primarily as a political issue, but as a human, theological, and missiological one.

It's a thoughtful, biblically grounded read for anyone trying to figure out what faithful, Christlike presence looks like in this moment.

New England didn't just shape American history β€” it helped shape how the church trains its ministers.

From Harvard's founding to the flourishing of Bible institutes in local churches, the region has been a laboratory for theological education for centuries. Senior Researcher Rudy Mitchell traces that history and explores what it means for gospel ministry training today.

From Harvard College to Bible institutes meeting in churches, Boston and New England have a long history of innovation in theological education and ministry training. The successes and failures of schools in the past can help shape and inspire a new vision for training men and women for gospel minis

Today we share the sorrowful news that Doug Hall, our beloved former executive director, passed away on April 13, 2026, at the age of 89.

Doug and his wife Judy led the Emmanuel Gospel Center for 50 years, transforming it from an evangelistic outreach ministry in Boston's South End into an innovation lab for Christian leaders seeking the shalom of the city. For decades, their home β€” known to many as the β€˜Hall Hotel’ β€” welcomed hundreds of people who needed community. His vision, humility, and deep faith shaped countless lives β€” from Boston's South End to Mumbai and Berlin.

"No one could out-dream Doug. But for someone who dealt in big ideas, he was humble, approachable, rooted. Feet firmly on the ground β€” he spent his life finding vitality and nurturing it. We do not grieve without hope, but we do grieve. Rest in glory, Doug." β€” Stacie Mickelson, EGC Executive Director

Please keep Judy, their daughter Becky and her husband Ken Anderson, their son Ken and his wife Jennifer, and their grandchildren Caleb, Asher, and Naomi in your prayers.

We are sad to share that Judy Kee passed away at the age of 91. Judy was a pioneer of nurse-midwifery, a pastor, and a servant to international and diaspora communities. She trained many midwives and medical personnel in the Belgian Congo and kept in touch with them over many years.

Many of us at EGC knew Judy through her years of supporting and encouraging Diaspora Ministries and Mission. She was always present, always encouraging, always ready to say "let's do it." She was a faithful presence at Ralph Kee's Boston Church Planting Collaborative meetings. She also attended South End Neighborhood Church, the church Ralph founded.

Her life was breathtaking in scope. She drove a WWII Jeep through the hollers of Kentucky to deliver babies. She served 20 years in Congo as a public health administrator, learning to speak fluent French and Swahili. And she welcomed newcomers to Boston as an associate pastor at International Community Church. She and Ralph lived in the South End and were known for their open table and warm hearts.

Judy passed away just three weeks after her husband, Ralph, her soulmate of 38 years. They finished their journeys together, as they had lived.

Funeral Service: Saturday, April 25, at noon, Robinson Funeral Home, 809 Main St., Melrose. Visitation: 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (Orange Line to Oak Grove)

Instead of flowers, you can give to Frontier Nursing University, HEAL Africa, or South End Neighborhood Church.

View Judith G. Kee's obituary, send flowers, find service dates, and sign the guestbook.
