Margaret Coffin was a congregant at Old North Church and the owner of Pew 1. In 1838, Coffin started using her personal money to distribute Books of Common Prayer, the prayer book used by Anglicans and other Episcopal churches, to those in need so they could participate in religious services. Historians estimate that she gave away close to 3,000 books!

Margaret Coffin died in 1855, and one year later, the Margaret Coffin Prayer Book Society was formed using money left in her estate. The society continues to provide Prayer Books and hymnals to missions and institutions.

Big news! We have launched "Prince's Revolutionary Tale," a new children's audio tour designed for visitors ages 7 to 12.

Narrated by Prince the Cat, this 20-minute audio adventure invites children to discover the history of Old North Church and its role in the American Revolution. "Prince's Revolutionary Tale" is included with admission to the church!

Founded in 1723, Old North Church's 300+ year history is uncommon in America. Only about 1% of houses of worship in the U.S. today existed in 1776.

We were thrilled to host the 2026 graduation ceremony for the North Bennet Street School this morning!

Located steps away from Old North, the school trains students in unique trades like violin making, bookbinding, and preservation carpentry. Congratulations to all the talented grads!

On Memorial Day, we recognize the tremendous bravery and sacrifice of those who serve.

Our Memorial Garden honors American lives lost in the conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq, and the greater war on terror. Each dog tag represents a fallen service member.
