With great joy and gratitude, we share that His Excellency Bishop François Beyrouti has formally announced the establishment of Saint Thekla Melkite Catholic Community in Jacksonville, Florida.

This historic announcement marks an important milestone for the Melkite Catholic faithful in Jacksonville, recognizing a growing community rooted in prayer, perseverance, and fidelity to the Byzantine Catholic tradition, in full communion with the Holy See.

Under the patronage of Saint Thekla, Equal to the Apostles, this new Melkite Catholic community is called to be a place of worship, spiritual formation, pastoral care, and witness to the ancient faith of the Church lived vibrantly today.

We invite the faithful to watch the video message in which Bishop Beyrouti announces this joyful news and offers his pastoral blessing to the community.

Please keep Saint Thekla Melkite Catholic Church and the faithful of Jacksonville in your prayers as they begin this new chapter in the life of the Diocese.

Glory to Jesus Christ—now and forever.

Fr. Bashir interviews Bishop Francois on the upcoming visit of Pope Leo XIV to Lebanon.

"We don't only celebrate anniversaries of buildings, we celebrate the presence of people searching for God and looking to be part of a community of faith."

"The Catholic Church is continually dedicated to peace, and any follower of Jesus Christ knows that He is the Prince of Peace, and that peace needs to be part of our life, and part of the way that we live in society."

Did you know? The Melkite Catholic Diocese of Newton has 51 active diocesan and religious order priests, including 21 active married priests. We also have 41 active deacons! Another fun fact: we have many bi-ritual priests who passionately practice the Melkite Catholic rite, even though they are not Melkite themselves.

We ask that God continue to bless the Diocese with many vocations to the priesthood and religious life. We also ask that you pray with this intention in mind. God bless you all!

We invite to you take a look at some pictures from the 2024 Clergy Conference that took place in Scottsdale, Arizona. Featured as a guest speaker was Cande de Leon who shared simple ways to bring people to Jesus. We pray that our clergy walked away from their retreat with a renewed sense of faith and zeal!

Thank you to the parishioners and clergy at St. John of the Desert Melkite Catholic Church in Phoenix, AZ for helping to host us.

We invite you all to pray using the prayer card in the 2024 Bishop's Appeal packet! If you did not receive one, your pastor/administrator will have extras for you.

This beautiful prayer is from the prayers of the ninth hour. We ask you to pray for the Diocese, peace in the world, and peace in the hearts of all. Only Christ Jesus can give this peace.

The Diocese of Newton's 2024 Annual Bishop's Appeal has officially launched! The appeal helps to support three key areas: fostering vocations, strengthening parish & diocesan infrastructure, and forming our children and youth. Check out the flyer below!

Everyone who has a valid address on Flocknote should have received an appeal packet by mail. If you have not, please update your address in Flocknote either by changing it yourself or letting your priest know.

Did you know? Each parish, mission and outreach has a goal to reach, so help your Melkite Catholic Community raise its goal! Any amount donated over the goal will be rebated at 50% to the community.

God bless you all and thank you for your generous stewardship.

Dear all,

We invite you to listen to Bishop Francois' post-convention message. It focuses on synodality and how our lay people, clergy, and bishop can work together to develop their gifts and talents and through these, see our communities grow and flourish.
