Join us this Sunday at 11 am as we welcome our guest preacher, Rev. Bria Belim!

Reverend Bria affectionately known as Rev. Breezy, is a truth seeker and preacher. Raised in the Church, she has walked in faith not just by sight, and has made it her mission to be not only her sister and her brother’s keeper, but the keeper of her church & larger Boston and global community.

Reverend Bria has attended Mount Ida College where she earned her Bachelor of Applied Sciences focusing on Bereavement and Funeral
Services. Reverend Bria is a graduate of Payne Theological Seminary where she received her Master of Divinity degree. She focused her
thesis work on Clergy Bereavement. She is currently a Doctoral Student at Payne Theological Seminary focusing on Transforming Traditional Churches with one semester left.
Reverend Bria is a fourth-generation AME church member. In April of 2019, Reverend Bria was elected and ordained an Itinerate Deacon in
the AME Church. On June 25, 2020, she was elected an Itinerate Elder and ordained in December of 2020. Rev. Bria is the former pastor of Delaine Waring AME in Buffalo NY where she served as their youngest pastor in history. Rev. Bria is the associate pastor at Charles Street AME Church.

A true millennial, multitasking, and innovation are embedded in her DNA. When she’s not ministering or mentoring to the youth she is working with an organization called FAMILY MOVEMENT, and you can also find
her giving workshops and presentations on the importance of social media in the churches.
The passion behind her purpose, “Im just out here in these streets trying to change lives”... or as her grandmother used to say…”If I can help
someone along the way... my living won’t be in vain!”

It’s Banned Book September at Old West Church

As there's an attempt to ban books across the country from children that highlight diversity, that involve truth telling and simply promote just being a good human being, I hope that we all during the month of September can collect several "banned books" that we can give away to the public at the end of the month. During the month of September, donate a "banned book" or as many books as you like to the "Banned Book Box” that will be in the sanctuary. Also during service, we will highlight a banned book.

Starting next Sunday, September 10th at 12:30 pm, join Rev. Redeem Robinson for conversations and fellowship AFTER CHURCH! With this, please order "Christians against Christianity" by Dr. Obrey Hendricks. You will enjoy this book and the conversations we will have around it. Don't be surprised if we move our conversations from the church to a local spot near by to eat.
