It is a season of transitions at Old North as several of our young adults are moving for jobs around the country. This morning we formally wished Godspeed to Lauren and Eddie (front row) who are moving to Chicago. They were central to the re-formation of the 1723 Club young adult fellowship two years ago when they arrived. Lauren sings in the choir and Eddie was baptized at Old North on All Saints Sunday, having never been to church before joining us. We will miss them greatly and are grateful for the opportunity to share life with them over these years. This is part of our calling as a mission church. We know that the seeds of faith we plant at Old North may grow and flourish elsewhere, even as we constantly welcome new members into our life together.

Two of Old North's young adults are getting married next week! The bride to be was the first person to join the congregation in 2021 after we reopened following the pandemic. This incredible community of you g adults has grown around her in a few short years. We held a pre-wedding celebration this morning after the service, with a good crowd to cheer them on.

As part of the America 250 celebrations, the Royal Air Force's Red Arrows are in Boston. Old North's Vicar, the Revd Dr Matthew Cadwell joined three members of the Red Arrows as well as members of the British & Commonwealth Remembrance Project on Thursday, July 9 at a wreath laying ceremony for British and Commonwealth service members killed in action in the two World Wars and buried in Everett, Mass. The Vicar offered prayers as Red Arrow RAF members laid wreaths. The bugle sounded, two minutes silence was observed, and they paid tribute to those who counted life not dear unto themselves, but laid them down for their friends, and for our freedom.

Fun that Boston's Fourth of July drone show featuring Old North Church is used as the heading image for this piece from the Church Times (Church of England newspaper) reporting on 250th anniversary commemorations. They didn't interview us, but the Presiding Bishop is pretty good, too.
