Today is Father's Day—a good time to give thanks to God for our dads, living and deceased.

⭐ We remember all fathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, grandfathers, godfathers, and all those men who have been like fathers to us. May St. Joseph pray for all of them.

Today we observe Juneteenth, commemorating the end of slavery in the United States.

🖼️ Self-taught quilt artist Renee Allen created this quilted tribute to Juneteenth in 2012, celebrating the moment General Gorden Granger announced in Galveston that "all slaves are free."

🌟 The vibrant quilt highlights the visceral emotion of the newly free men and women cheering and embracing through machine appliqué, hand painting, hand-drawn appliqué, and machine quilting.

🙏 A Prayer For Juneteenth🙏
We pray, O Lord, for change.
Jesus you revealed God through your wise words and loving deeds,
and we encounter you still today in the faces of those whom society has pushed to the margins.
Guide us, through the love you revealed,
to establish the justice you proclaimed,
that all peoples might dwell in harmony and peace,
united by that one love that binds us to each other, and to you.
And most of all, Lord, change our routine worship and work into genuine encounter with you and our better selves so that our lives will be changed for the good of all.

Two weeks ago, we were honored to welcome members of Temple Israel of Boston to the 11:30 liturgy ✨ Their visit is part of our ongoing relationship through The Greater Boston Interfaith Organization.

⭐ Our guests appreciated the warmth of their welcome and for the beauty of the music, especially our choir’s singing of the traditional Hebrew folk hymn "Hine Ma Tov"🎵

🍲 We shared a meal after Mass, grateful for the opportunity to deepen relationships across traditions and to recognize one another more fully as neighbors.

🤝 GBIO’s work is rooted in the conviction that when people of faith come together, they can help shape communities marked by justice, dignity, and care for all.

Our dear friend Deacon Christopher Brolly, SJ will be ordained to the priesthood in the Society of Jesus this Saturday, June 13, at St Mary’s Cathedral in Newcastle upon Tyne!
