Respecting life means respecting the lives of those who have continually had their land stolen and their communities mistreated.

As we celebrate Indigenous Peoples’ Day, we recognize that Saint Cecilia Church stands on the ancestral homeland of the Pawtucket, Massachusett, Nipmuc, and Wampanoag peoples.

Today we honor the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Native American communities and acknowledge the painful history of colonization, displacement, forced removal, and broken treaties that continues to shape their lives.

This day invites us to listen, remember, and deepen our commitment to reconciliation and to the dignity of every person.
