Trinity Church, Copley Square in Boston seeks a Soprano 2 to serve as one of eight professional section leaders in a large, vibrant, intergenerational choral program. Trinity is blessed with a rich musical tradition that is lived out week by week, spearheaded by multiple choirs. The choirs sing a substantial amount of repertoire from a broad range of sacred choral literature.

Candidates should have well-developed, reliable, and flexible vocal technique with the ability to sing straight tone when needed. Excellent sightreading and strong interpersonal skills are essential. The ability and willingness to lead warm-ups, sectional rehearsals, and impart vocal wisdom during rehearsals to our many talented volunteer singers are strongly preferred. Previous experience working in church choir settings is a preferred though not required.
At the heart of the Trinity Choirs’ work is a deep commitment to church’s worship life. In addition to their regular focus in the parish, the choirs have made several tours abroad, most recently in 2022 for residencies at England’s York Minster and Durham Cathedrals, and in previous years at Wi******er, Lincoln, St. Paul’s, Ely and Chichester Cathedrals and Westminster Abbey. A tour is planned for 2025 to serve as choir in residence at St. Paul’s Cathedral and Canterbury Cathedral in England. More information is available www.trinitychurchboston.org/worship/music/choirs.
Regular Calls (paid hourly): Thursday Rehearsal (6:45-8:45 pm), Sunday Rehearsal/Service (8:30am-11:00am), and Sunday evening Rehearsal/Service (4:00pm-6:00pm, bi-weekly). Frequent additional opportunities exist for calls for weddings, funerals, concerts, and tours. Additional calls are possible, for a fitting candidate, to offer vocal coaching to the Trinity choristers.
