Something new is beginning in Flint.

For nearly three decades, I have served as a student of Black history, a community food systems practitioner, and an evangelist seeking to understand what God requires of us in this generation.

On Sunday, July 5th, those paths converge as we gather for the Inaugural Revival Service of the Shrines of the Black Messiah.

This is not the launch of another church.

It is the beginning of a ministry dedicated to Truth. Liberation. Sovereignty. A place where spiritual renewal is inseparable from rebuilding families, restoring communities, cultivating the land, and reclaiming the dignity that our ancestors struggled to secure.

The revival message I will share is entitled:

"When Did You Begin to Change Inside?"

Drawing from W.E.B. Du Bois, Malcolm X, and the lived experience of the people of Flint, we will ask a simple but searching question:

Who told you that you could not become what God, your ancestors, and your own dreams called you to become?

Whether you are a person of deep faith, someone still searching, or simply curious about a new vision for community, you are welcome.

Come as you are.

Stay for the conversation.

Stay for the fellowship.

A community meal will be served immediately following the revival, because we believe that breaking bread together is itself an act of ministry.

Flint has endured much.

But Flint is not finished.

Neither are we.

**A Young Farmer and a Row of Collards**

One of the greatest misconceptions in America is that young people don't want to work.

What many young people actually need is meaningful work.

Not busy work.
Not exploitation.
Not endless screens and distractions.

Meaningful work.

This week at Asbury Farms in Flint, Michigan, this young man named Joshua spent the afternoon helping tend collards, onions, and other crops destined to feed our community. The smile on his face says more than any policy paper or workforce development grant ever could.

There is something powerful that happens when a person can point to a growing plant and say, *"I helped make that happen."*

The farm teaches lessons that are increasingly rare in modern society:
🌱 Responsibility
🌱 Patience
🌱 Stewardship
🌱 Self-reliance
🌱 Service to others

At House of Amen (HoA), we believe that agriculture is more than an industry. It is a classroom, a ministry, a rite of passage, and a pathway to human dignity.

The future of our communities will not be built by consumers alone. It will be built by producers, cultivators, builders, caregivers, and neighbors willing to put their hands in the soil and their hearts into something larger than themselves.

As I often say:

**"The farm is becoming what the monastery once was."**

A place where character is formed, wisdom is transmitted, and people discover who they are through meaningful labor.
