We have a new pastor! From Judy Murdoch, our SPRC (nee PPRC) chair:
It is my joy to share with you today that Bishop Héctor A. Burgos-Núñez appointed Rev. Dr. John Loeser as the new pastor of Churchill Memorial & Colden United Methodist Churches. Rev. Dr. Loeser begins his new responsibilities on July 1st of this year. As a United Methodist congregation, we are a part of an itinerant appointment system (pastors are assigned to different churches by the bishop, regularly moving between congregations, rather than staying in one church for their entire ministry). Our Staff Parish Relations Committee (SPRC) met with District Superintendent Mary Kelly to identify our congregation’s needs, and the skills needed in a pastor for our context. We also met with Pastor John to get to know him and ask questions.
Pastor John received his BA in Religious Studies from Canisius College, a Master of Divinity from Methodist Theological School of Ohio, and a Doctor of Ministry from United Theological Seminary. John was ordained in the UMC in 2016. He has served at Wilson, Exley, Gowanda, Hartland, and currently serves at Baker Memorial in East Aurora. Rev. John has a passion for the Holy Scriptures, and is gifted as a shepherd, a teacher, a helper, a healer, and a giver. He enjoys facilitating group discussions on Jesus’s life and teaching and how they might apply to modern life.
Our new pastor will work with us and the conference so that we continue to nurture disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Bishop Burgos-Núñez, District Superintendent Mary Kelly, and the Upper New York Conference leaders will work with us to continue growing as a congregation. I know you will join our bishop, our new pastor and me in helping to make new disciples of Jesus for the transformation of the world.
