UPDATE: The water is on again, so Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 as usual.

As of 10:25 tonight (Monday night) the church and rectory have no water. There probably will not be Mass tomorrow morning if the water is not restored as there will be rest rooms available. It is not a matter of low water pressure, there is absolutely no pressure available,

I’ll post an update when I get up in the morning.

Take time to go to confession during this Lenten season. For some, it may have been a few years since your last confession. Do not be afraid.

Here are some reminders on how to go to confession:

1️⃣ Examine your conscience by reflecting on your sins. This is the most necessary part of confession. You need to know your sins before you confess. It is okay to ask the priest if you are unsure if something is a sin and do not worry, the priest has heard everything before. (Check out some resources from: http://ow.ly/wa1O30rBNrt)

2️⃣ Begin your Confession by making the sign of the crossing and say the following "Bless me Father for I have sinned. It has been [length of time] since my last Confession. These are my sin..."

3️⃣ The priest will give you a specific "penance", which may be a few prayers, an act of charity, or something related to your sins as a response to God's mercy.

4️⃣ Then he will invite you to pray the act of contrition, out loud. If you are nervous and happen to forget the words, most confessionals have the act of contrition printed out for you.

5️⃣ The priest will pray the prayer of absolution for which you will respond: "Amen."

6️⃣ He will then conclude by saying "Your sins are forgiven. Go in peace" and you respond, "Thanks be to God." Don’t forget to do your penance as soon as possible.

A good confession is humble, sincere and complete. Reach out to your local parish through their parish office, their bulletins or website for availability.

This year Saint Patrick's Day falls on Friday, a traditional day to abstain from eating meat. Recognizing the spiritual and the cultural significance of Saint Patrick's Day I hereby grant a commutation of the discipline of abstaining from meat on March 17, 2023.

A commutation of this discipline means that those Catholics who choose to eat meat on Friday, March 17th are obliged to choose another day before March 24, 2023 to abstain from eating meat.

I hope this allows for a joyful celebration of Saint Patrick and Irish heritage, by blood or association, for all who find this day meaningful.

May the love and protection, Saint Patrick can give, be yours in abundance, as long as you live. Saint Patrick, pray for us.

- Bishop Michael W. Fisher
