What are we actually building when we build a church?

Nehemiah 3 shows us that God isn’t just interested in rebuilding walls. He’s forming a people—a new family centered on worshiping Christ and learning to live life together.

That’s the church. And there’s a place for you here.

Have you ever looked back and realized that God was preparing you for something before you even knew it was coming?

Nehemiah shows us what it looks like to live ready. Not because we know what’s next, but because we know who we’re living for.

When your life is ordered around God’s purposes, you can faithfully respond to the opportunities He gives you.

Life gets noisy. Our hearts can get crowded.

Fasting and prayer give us space to pause, clear away the clutter, and turn our attention toward God.

This Sunday, come be with us. We’re now gathering at 10 AM at English High School in Jamaica Plain.

We tend to think worship only happens on Sunday mornings with a band on stage. But the reality is, every single one of us is constantly looking to something—our careers, relationships, or comfort—to give us worth and security. It’s how our hearts are wired.

When the chaos of your week comes crashing in, notice where your mind goes as you feel stressed or inadequate. Whatever you run to for validation in that moment is what you're leaning on for ultimate satisfaction. Shifting that focus back to God changes how you handle pressure at work and at home.

How do you honor parents when you’re already an adult? This Sunday we looked at Colossians 3:20-21 to dig into all aspects of the relationship between children and their parents.

While obedience applies to children in their parents’ home, the call to honor your father and mother carries no expiration date.

As adults, honoring means treating our parents with dignity, seeking their counsel, and caring for them as they age—never treating their investment as something we simply outgrow.

In God’s kingdom, neither status is secondary. Both serve as powerful, distinct living illustrations of God’s love. Your relationship isn’t just about personal happiness, but about showcasing Christ’s unconditional commitment.

We are fiercely independent— We love the idea that no one gets to tell us what to do. But as Pastor Steven pointed out this Sunday, our cultural obsession with self-optimization often leaves us completely exhausted and disillusioned. We try to be our own savior, but we make lousy gods. When you step into your workplace, your relationships, or your family dynamics on Monday morning, you don’t have to carry the pressure of holding everything together. Surrendering to Jesus as Lord means stepping out of the driver’s seat and trusting that the Creator of the universe is infinitely better at directing your steps than you are.

Episode 1.1 of Hope From The Hill is live.

Our first full episode is a conversation on the most important question we could start with: What is the gospel?

The whole story — where it begins, why it matters, and what it changes about your life right now.

Drop your questions in the comments or DM us. We’re doing a Q&A episode next week and want to hear questions from you on the topic.

🎙 Hope from the Hill is available now on Spotify. Check the link in our profile to get there.
