We are fiercely independent— We love the idea that no one gets to tell us what to do. But as Pastor Steven pointed out this Sunday, our cultural obsession with self-optimization often leaves us completely exhausted and disillusioned. We try to be our own savior, but we make lousy gods. When you step into your workplace, your relationships, or your family dynamics on Monday morning, you don’t have to carry the pressure of holding everything together. Surrendering to Jesus as Lord means stepping out of the driver’s seat and trusting that the Creator of the universe is infinitely better at directing your steps than you are.

What if God’s silence is actually an invitation to look closer?

When we pray, we usually come to God looking for an advice column. We want immediate answers for our career paths, our relationships, our anxieties, and our strategic life decisions. But the gospel of Jesus Christ shows us that God doesn't just hand us a roadmap—He hands us a Relationship.

The next time you feel stuck or stressed on a Monday morning, pivot your focus. Stop frantically demanding an immediate roadmap from God and start looking for a clearer sight of Jesus. The more clearly you see His character, His sovereignty, the more you can rest in His love.

"God helps those who help themselves" isn't in the Bible.
In fact, that popular phrase is actually terrible news. If salvation relies on you being good enough to climb into the life raft, you're on your own. The brilliance of the Gospel is entirely different: God saves those who never could nor would save themselves.
This shifts everything for your week. You can stop treating your faith like an endless performance review. Jesus didn't come for the people who have it all together; He rescues those who are completely out of options. You don't have to carry the weight of saving your own life, your family, or your future. He already did it.

Addisyn recently returned from a Quest mission trip to the Dominican Republic, and the impact it had on her faith is incredible. After a season of struggling to keep her relationship with God at the center, serving alongside missionaries and local kids changed her perspective on what it means to live with joy. ⁣

Post-trip, Addisyn says her prayer life is where she sees the biggest change. She’s learned that trusting God’s will means believing He truly wants the best for us—always. ⁣
