A correct view of the past should give us gratitude for the present and hope for the future.

In Colossians 1:21-23 Paul reminds us us that not only have we been reconciled through Christ after previously having been exiled and alienated, but we WILL be presented holy and blameless! Listen to week 4 of our Colossians series now: https://bit.ly/3V6kzzU

In Week 3 of our Colossians series, we looked specifically at Colossians 1:15-20. In this passage Paul reinforces Christ's identity as Creator God and His position as Lord over all things. It is of the utmost importance that we, as believers, affirm His identity and His position - it is because of the identity and position of Christ that He is the only one able to pay for our sin and reconcile us to God. Who He is cannot be separated from what He does! Listen to Pastor McCasland's sermon now:

This week Pastor McCasland, on our second Sunday studying the book of Colossians, led us through verses 9-14 of Chapter 1.

Through this passage, we are reminded that knowledge is what produces transformation in believers; the two are not estranged. As part of that transformation, God's power produces patience and steadfastness in us (vs. 9-11). And this is all because of Jesus! We must always set our hearts and minds on what God has done for us in Christ, "in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins" (v. 14).

This week we began a new series, during which we will be studying the book of Colossians. In Colossians 1:1-8, Paul reminds the church at Colossae that their prayers should not be limited to times of trouble, restricted to their own interests, or silenced by their circumstances. We, too, should strive to have such a prayer life!

In Week 14 of The Gospel According to Genesis, we tackled Genesis Chapter 9. In this chapter, we are reminded of the promise God made to never send a flood of such magnitude on the earth again. This covenant is not contingent on anything that humanity has to uphold; its is a reminder of God's perfect faithfulness. On the other hand, we see in. vs 18-29 that sin still comes with consequences.

This week Pastor McCasland walked us through the flood, covering Genesis Chapter 7 and 8, but zooming in on 7:13-18. In this story we are reminded of the importance of God's covering - only HIS covering is sufficient to cover the debt and penalty we owe because of our sin. God has saved us from a much greater peril than the flood, and our very lives should be altars of sacrifice!

In Genesis 6:9-22, the Lord prepares to destroy the earth via flood. However, he preserves Noah's family line because of Noah's faithfulness in walking with God. We also see Noah's obedience and strong faith as he prepares to build an ark exactly as God had instructed him, without question or hesitation. Oh, that we would have faith like Noah, which results in obedience and rest!
