Flag Removal scheduled for Monday, June 1st at 1:00 PM is CANCELLED. It is rescheduled for Wednesday, June 3rd at 1:00 PM.

The planting event scheduled for Monday, June 1st at 12:00 PM will still proceed! A little rain and dampness does not prevent us from planting new flowers and plants in our gardens.

Thank you for your patience as we work through these weather challenges.

Due to the absolutely horrible weather this morning, we are going to move the Memorial Day Ceremony into the chapel, with a modified agenda. Seating is very limited in the chapel, so please take that into consideration. It is not so much the rain as it is the wind that has us concerned. We will have a ceremony and it WILL be livestreamed. We ask for your understanding as we work through the best options to reverently honor those who deserve to be honored, while also considering the health and safety of those participating in this event. Thank you for your understanding.

The Memorial Day Ceremony for Saturday, May 30th at 11:00 AM is still ON! It will be damp and cold, and possibly raining--but weather conditions have never dampened the spirit of veterans, their families, or those who live in New England! Dress warm and bring a raincoat or umbrella. Additional warmth provided by the warmth of our hearts thanking those who have died in service to our nation. Rain never slowed down any Marine, Soldier, Sailor, Airman, Coast Guardsman, or Guardian - it won't slow us down either.

We will livestream tomorrow's service starting at 10:55 AM. If you cannot make it, please feel free to watch our livestream on this page!

Today I had the privilege of meeting SGT Phillip "Jack" Clinton, a US Army veteran of the Korean War. Jack's wife of 73 years, Teresa, is buried here at the NHSVC. Jack was manning a .50 cal machine gun in Panmunjom during the signing of the Korean Armistice Agreement on July 27, 1953. We had a great conversation about his time in Korea, the weather in Korea (which was my first duty station 35 years AFTER Jack's heroic duty), and about Jack's wonderful family.

The Korean War Remembrance Ceremony will be held on Friday, July 31st at 3:00 PM. All are invited to attend, but especially anyone who has EVER served in the Republic of Korea. It is a great event that has the additional bonus of delicious Korean food! Jack plans to be there! 봉사에 감사드립니다! (Thank you for your service.)

NOTE: we published an incorrect date for the Korean War Remembrance Ceremony on several documents. The CORRECT date is Friday, July 31st at 3:00 PM. We hope to see you there!

What a day today! Despite the mostly overcast and drizzly weather, we had an amazing turn out for the Granite United Way Day of Caring event. The volunteers worked incredibly hard adding compost and mulch to gardens, weeding, and many other landscaping tasks. Our entire staff enjoys meeting the volunteers and are grateful for their efforts toward preparing the cemetery for Memorial Day and beyond! Special thanks to AAA Northern New England, Nathan Wechster& Company, Elekrisola, Merrimack County Savings Bank, Lincoln Financial Group, Orr & Reno, Turner Group, City of Concord, and Meredith Village Savings Bank for supporting this event and allowing your employees to spend some quality time with us! Have a wonderful weekend!

It is a busy time of year at the NHSVC! We are grateful to Sun Communities for doing volunteer work on Wednesday. Tasker Landscaping is also on site to begin work on our Memorial Walkway expansion.

The NH Chapter of the Military Officer's Association of America is hosting a Military Spouse Appreciation Ceremony on Friday, May 8th at 5:00 PM. All are invited to attend. For those planning to attend, please park in the lot across the street from the main entrance, if you are able. Entry to the cemetery is ONLY through the main entrance. You will then be directed on where to park within the cemetery. Be advised, exit from within the cemetery may take additional time due to flow of traffic.

Have a wonderful weekend!

It certainly is busy at the NHSVC! RM Piper and Coleman Concrete are pouring concrete around our columbaria and installing new watering stations. Hillside Irrigation will be here in the coming days to do some grounds work and irrigation installation. We will also have Cameron Landscaping here to install sod and other trees and shrubs. ArborTech is removing several large trees from the middle of the Memorial Walkway. The NHSVC staff is repairing graves that were dug over the winter time, placing headstones, and getting our irrigation system up and running. We are so grateful for skilled professionals who do so much important work!

Unfortunately, the completion date for our columbaria project has moved back to July 1st. We were hoping for June 1st, but there have been some challenges that MUST be corrected prior to opening these new sections. We will keep working as quickly as possible to get this project done!

Tasker Landscaping will be here in the next couple of weeks to add an 83-foot extension to the Memorial Walkway (which is why we are having trees removed). This extension will create space for several additional monuments and benches! Thanks to the NHVCA for funding this amazing project!

On Friday, May 8th at 5:00 PM the NH Military Officers Association of America will host a Military Spouse Appreciation event at the Circle of Flags at the NHSVC. All are welcome to attend and honor those who SERVE by supporting our Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, and Guardians!

Standing with Fallen Comrades: A Community United 🇺🇸

On Thursday, January 29th, the wind may have been cold, but the atmosphere inside our chapel was deeply moving and warm with gratitude.

We gathered to provide Military Honors for SP4 Richard G. Blythe, a U.S. Army Veteran who served our nation honorably from 1966 to 1968, including a one-year tour of duty in Vietnam. Though Mr. Blythe (born Nov. 6, 1946; passed Jan. 17, 2026) had no known next of kin, he was far from alone.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who shared our announcement and to the many who stood in the gap to observe his service. Because of your presence, SP4 Blythe received the dignified farewell every veteran deserves. You ensured that his service and sacrifice were witnessed and remembered.

No Veteran Should Be Laid to Rest Alone

At the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, we are committed to our "Standing with Fallen Comrades" initiative. We believe that no veteran is "unaccompanied" as long as they have their community and their brothers and sisters in arms.
