Hedding United Methodist Church

Hedding United Methodist Church A small country church with a big heart. The Hedding UMC is an exciting place to join with others on the journey of seeking their purpose in life. What is this?

It's a home for the whole family to learn about God in a way that is not only practical but also fun. We are serious about the Bible, serious about the truths that are found in it and living in Him but also like to laugh, cry and experience life together. Paul wrote to the Romans: "in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others." It's a family! So what does the

Hedding UMC family look like? We are a purposely intergenerational group, celebrating the diversity of our lives together. Young, not so young, married, single, widowed, divorced, different ethnic backgrounds, different economic circumstances….all facets of life are represented in our family. We seek to grow closer to God through study of the Bible and prayer but also apply what we've learned to our day to day lives in a practical way. But it's not just about us; we're also enthusiastic about reaching the community and world around us with the Good News of life in Jesus Christ. Are we perfect? Far from it. But we know Who is and it's He who we strive to not only emulate but draw closer too. So though imperfect, we are a community with deep roots that likes to celebrate its heritage and build off of it. But we're also a community living in the 21st century here in Hedding, New Jersey passionate about being responsive to the needs of the people around us and throughout the world. We're looking for similarly imperfect, but passionate people who would like to join us in this great adventure of being God's visible representatives.

On Sunday May 17th, we talked about how hurtful words can affect people and how we can’t completely fix it. First, we traced an outline of a body. We named our person and gave him a story-his favorite colors, foods, and activities to do. Then we took turns saying something mean to him and tearing off a piece of his body as we were hurting him with our words. Then we all went up to him and said I’m sorry and taped him back together. But he wasn’t the same! We read a Bible verse “do unto others that you would have do unto you.” The kids in the nursery played and came out to hear about our story too! Thank you Mrs. Wible for teaching us this great message!!!

Today we had a resurrection egg hunt where we found items that remind us of the Easter story. There were coins, thorns, tacks, “water” aka sequence, spices, etc. Then we decorated hearts for Palm Sunday with names of people that we love.

Today we talked about the 4 main stories of the Holy Week of Easter. First we wrote down what we remembered about each story. Then we read the first two stories (Palm Sunday and Last Supper) and wrote down more details that we learned. We sequenced the Last Super story and then made a cross magnet to remember our stories.

On our last day of our Moses study we talked about The 10 Commandments. We played a game that had no rules and then talked about how it is important to have rules in life. Then we matched the commandment with real life scenarios. We made a story wheel of The 10 Commandments.
