Congratulations to our confirmands: Jessie Marina Ullo, Sarah Katherine Harris, and Ford Anthony Harris! We welcomed Bishop Thomas Brown for a joyful service of celebration and confirmation on the Feast of St. Columba, Abbot of Iona, who is credited with spreading Christianity in Scotland in the sixth century.

All are welcome to join us for joyful worship with Bishop Brown this Sunday. Three young people from Southport will be confirmed. Bishop Brown will speak about the Episcopal church in Maine and in the nation and world.

As Pride month begins, save the date for a gathering commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1976 General Convention resolution declaring that LGBTQ+ people have a full and equal claim to the pastoral care and support of The Episcopal Church. The event, “Full and Equal: 50 Years in Pursuit of a Promise,” will celebrate progress and acknowledge the work that remains.

The three-day gathering, held in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Sept. 3-5, will include storytelling coaching, workshops, a banquet, and a Eucharist featuring Presiding Bishop Sean Rowe as presider and Bishop Gene Robinson as preacher. Spanish-language interpretation will be available.

In our Diocesan Cycle of Prayer, we pray for the leadership and congregation of the Cathedral Church of St. Luke in Portland as they near the end of their search for their next dean. And, on this eve of Pride month, we pray also for all LGBTQ+ people struggling for acceptance in their families, workplaces, or anywhere. 🙏🏳️‍🌈
