We invite everyone to join us in worship. Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church was held in the home of Ben Mitchell. H. “Harvey” Lyons of Bethera and Henry and Lessie Cale

s. The nearest churches were in Jamestown and Macedonia. Most of the folks in Calestown had limited transportation and they wanted to start having local services here in our community. After this initial service, Mr. Lyons agreed to come and help with Sunday School. Mitchell had a small pole house and he allowed the new congregation to meet there. Services were being held in this house on a regular basis in the spring of 1936. Charter members include: Mr. Lyons, Lessie Cales, Liza Shaw (Mims) and Leila Cales. The congregation outgrew the small house. Arthur Cales donated two acres of land on the Calestown Road and between 1936 and 1938, a church was built on the property. Jimmy Cales put down a well so the congregation would have water. Conference records show that Rev. Phil Hood was the pastor in 1937; Rev. Hood in 1938 and Rev. Early revivals were so well attended that people would be standing outside the church listening to the services because there wasn’t room for everyone inside. There were numerous others who pastored the church. Some of the earliest included Onie Mitchum and John Caddell. Rev. Bill McCall was issued his Mission Workers License by the South Carolina Conference of the Pentecostal Holiness Church in 1958. He later received his Minister’s License and Ordination and was assigned as Pastor to Mt. Calvary in 1962. The church relocated to our present location here on Highway 17-A around 1963. McCall served faithfully at Mt. Calvary until the Lord called him home here in this pulpit on Sunday, May 18, 1980. Many more have faithfully served in the ministry of Mt. Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church. Most of our former pastors are now in the presence of the Lord. We are thankful to honor those who are with us here today. God has blessed us abundantly over the last 81 years and we thank Him for what He has done, for what He is doing, and for what He is going to do!

Praying for Bro. Kenny and all the family. We love you all and dearly love Sis. Sandy. What a life and testimony she lived before us. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. “ 2 Timothy 4:7-8
