In 1871, a small group of Christians wanted to worship together in a central location, leading to the formation of Bethlehem Baptist Church under the guidance of Reverend Billy Cox and H. The first church building, constructed from logs, was established on Mrs. Annie Garrett's estate, situated between Preston and Lee streets in the five-hundred block. For over 150 years, the Church has thrived and
fulfilled its mission. We are grateful to all the dedicated men and women who sacrificed for our Church. We aim to continue making history for Bethlehem Baptist and aspire that future generations will take pride in our accomplishments, just as we honor the pioneers who established this remarkable church.
