There's a version of faith that wants to stay in control. Because if you slow down, everything falls apart.
This week's message from Worship Director Anthony Bolden shows us a tired Moses, who is exhausted, grieving his sister, and leading people who doubted him at every turn. Instead of following what God instructed, Moses makes his own way. And what we find next is a God who is still faithful and gracious. And we've all been there. The moment where instead of trusting God, we take matters into our own hands. Not because we don't believe, but because we're tired, mentally and physically exhausted. Listen to the full sermon as Anthony helps us understand how to surrender when we are running on empty and wondering if God is even paying attention.
After you listen to the sermon, come back here to reflect on these questions:
1. When life gets hard, is your default to reach for control, productivity, or something else? Where does God usually fall on that list?
2. Moses disobeyed God not because he stopped believing, but because he was exhausted and grieving. Has there been a season where your circumstances affected how you showed up in your faith?
3. God told Moses to speak to the rock, but Moses struck it. What is something God might be asking you to simply trust Him with instead of forcing your own solution?
4. Jesus faced the wilderness hungry and tired, yet stayed grounded in who He was. How does knowing your identity as a child of God change the way you face hard seasons?
5. Even in Moses' disobedience, the water still came out. What does that tell you about the character of God, and how does that change the way you see your own failures?
