"And suddenly from heaven there came a sound like the rush of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. Acts 2:2 (NRSV)

Pentecost begins not with a plan but with a sound, the rush of wind filling a house. Breath fills the disciples who have been waiting. Fear yields to courage, and barriers of language and difference begin to fall..."

“Waiting in scripture is not inactivity. It is attentiveness.”

After the Ascension, the disciples gathered in prayer and waited together for what God would do next. In seasons of uncertainty, waiting can become a space for trust, growth, and preparation.

Where is God inviting you to wait with patience and hope?

“The Ascension reminds us that Christ’s work continues through us.”

As the disciples stood looking toward heaven, they were called forward into lives of compassion, justice, mercy, and hope. We may not feel fully ready, but God’s grace still sends us into the world to serve and love.

"Mother’s Day evokes many emotions. For some, it is a joyful expression of gratitude. For others, it brings memories, grief, longing, or complicated relationships. The church holds all these experiences tenderly because scripture itself uses parental imagery to describe God’s care..." "The images we use for God shape how we imagine grace. If our language for God becomes too narrow, our experience of divine love may narrow as well. If God is spoken of only in distant, ruling, or masculine imagery, something essential in the biblical witness is muted. But when scripture itself speaks of blessing in the language of breasts and womb, it invites us to recognize that the life-giving abundance of God is not foreign to maternal imagery. God’s care includes what nourishes, carries, births, feeds, and sustains..." Read our latest Substack article, written in honor of the God who mothers, by Rev. Dr. Tércio B.
