Why Plant a Church in Boise?
It's true, we are planting a church. Several years ago I began to feel like God might one day call us to be church planters, but it just never felt like the right time. Then in January of 2018 something shifted. We began to feel like God was saying "Get up, it's time to move". Brandi and I began to pray and fast. We went to our Pastor and he joined in with us and about 40 days later, we knew that God had confirmed it, we were going to plant a life giving church. But where?
Boise, Idaho is an incredible city. Forbes.com has listed it as the fastest growing city in America as of 2018. The Treasure Valley area is estimated to reach 1 million people within the next two years. It caught my eye as I began looking for cities and after studying the demographics, it had my attention. Brandi and I began to pray and ask God that he would give us a love for the people there and as we began to study the religious/spiritual climate, our hearts broke.
-Only 10.5% of the population claims to be Christian. That means over 600,000 people in the Treasure Valley area do not know Jesus.
-26% of the population of Idaho is Mormon, the second highest Mormon populated state after Utah.
