Human beings are always looking for signs that they belong. βœ…

We join organizations, wear uniforms, display family names, and carry symbols that tell us who we are. Scripture teaches that belonging to Christ also has a sign...

Baptism is not merely about what has been left behind. It is also about what has begun. We go down into the water as a reminder that the old life of sin must die. We rise again as a testimony that Christ has called us into something new. πŸ™Œ

It remains such a glorious picture of the gospel. It reminds us that Christianity is not simply self-improvement. It is death and resurrection. It is leaving one kingdom behind and entering an eternal one!

πŸ“– "We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead... we too might walk in newness of life." -Romans 6:4

Loving people we do not like is not always so simple. Some people are difficult to understand. Some have hurt us. Some seem to stand for everything we oppose.

But Christian love begins with what God has already said about the people we have a hard time accepting.

Jesus told us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. He said this while moving toward the cross, where He would pray for the very people putting Him to death. That does not make evil harmless or wrongs unimportant. It means the person in front of us is still not disposable. πŸ™

So we begin where Christ taught us to begin. We pray for them. We refuse to speak of them as less than human. We tell the truth without cruelty. We remember that every person we meet was made by God and remains accountable to Him. πŸ™Œ

β€œSo God created man in his own image…” -Genesis 1:27

One of the hardest life lessons is discovering that competence has limits...

A lot of us spend years learning how to solve problems and overcome obstacles, figuring things out on our own. Those are good skills to have until we encounter something that cannot be fixed by experience or determination. πŸ‘Š

Eventually, everyone reaches a point where the problem is bigger than they are... a diagnosis. A loss. A broken relationship. A burden that refuses to yield to our best attempts at managing it.

It is often in those moments that we discover the difference between trusting ourselves and trusting God. The Christian faith is not merely for the situations we can handle. It is for the situations we cannot. The greatness of God becomes most visible when we finally reach the end of our own resources and find that His have not been exhausted. πŸ™

Do you ever find yourself questioning why God has commandments? They are not given to diminish human life but to order it rightly...

πŸ“– The One who created humanity understands better than we do what leads toward life and what leads toward destruction.

πŸ•ŠοΈ His commands restrain the impulses and desires that eventually leave people empty, divided, and restless.

πŸ›οΈ Obedience forms the soul over time. It teaches us to love what is good rather than merely what is immediate.

πŸ”₯ Holiness is not arbitrary. God’s commands exist because He intends something greater for humanity than self-destruction and disorder.

The refusal to submit to God is often presented as freedom. In practice, it frequently becomes another form of bo***ge.

β€œFor this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.” -1 John 5:3

There is something deeply good about gathering together week after week to worship, pray, share meals, carry burdens, and grow in faith alongside one another. In a world where many feel isolated or disconnected, the Church becomes a place where people are known, welcomed, and reminded they belong to something greater than themselves. πŸ™

At Epworth, we love gathering not only to worship the Lord but to build real fellowship rooted in Christ. Whether you have been in church your whole life or are simply looking for a place to begin again, there is room for you here. πŸ’›

We would love to welcome you this Sunday.

πŸ’ One of the stranger ideas in modern culture is that freedom means needing no one but yourself...

When Saint Paul describes the Church as a body, he is reminding us that no part can fulfill its purpose alone. An eye is useful, but not by itself. A hand is valuable, but it cannot walk. The very things that make each part unique are what make cooperation necessary.

This is also true in the Christian life. God does not shape every believer in the same way, nor does He call every believer to the same task. Diversity within the Church is not a problem to be solved. It is part of God's design! πŸŒŽπŸ™

The greatness of God is revealed not merely in what He does through individuals but in how He joins ordinary people together into something greater than any one of them could become on their own.

πŸ“– "Now you are the body of Christ and individually members of it." -1 Corinthians 12:27

🌈 Throughout Scripture, God often pairs His promises with signs. The rainbow followed the flood. Manna appeared in the wilderness. Even the prophet Elijah discovered that the Lord was not in the wind, the earthquake, or the fire, but in the sound of a low whisper.

Yet there are also moments when God chooses to reveal His presence in ways that cannot be missed!

The purpose is not spectacle. It is grace. God knows how easily we forget, so He gives reminders that point us to a greater reality.

The Lord who revealed His glory to Israel is the same Lord who calls ordinary men and women to know Him today. The signs may differ, but His desire remains the same. He wants a people who trust Him, walk with Him, and bear witness to His greatness in the world.

πŸ“– "For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord as the waters cover the sea." -Habakkuk 2:14

June welcomes longer, warmer days, and creation itself seems to invite us to slow down and receive what God is giving.

There is something restorative about stepping into the sunlight after a long season indoors. In much the same way, the soul is renewed when it remains near to the presence of God. He does not drain or diminish us. He gives light, warmth, and strength to those who draw near to Him. β˜€οΈπŸ™

Do not move through this season too quickly. Make room to pray, to be still, and to let the goodness of God settle deeply into your life.

β€œFor the LORD God is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor.” -Psalm 84:11
