Silver Rose Prayer Service at Sacred Heart

Today, the Silver Rose made its pilgrimage through Boise on its annual journey from Canada to Mexico City in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Following Daily Mass at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, parishioners gathered for a special prayer service and rosary sponsored by Knights of Columbus Council 899.

The Silver Rose program, a cherished tradition of the Knights of Columbus, serves as a visible reminder of the unity between the peoples of North America and of the message of faith, hope, and love entrusted to St. Juan Diego by Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1531. As the rose continues its journey toward the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, it carries with it the prayers and intentions of the faithful from communities across the continent.

The service at Sacred Heart was led by parishioner and Knight Tom Cotner, who reflected on the significance of the Silver Rose and the enduring call of Our Lady to draw closer to her Son, Jesus Christ. Parishioners joined together in praying the Rosary and offering petitions for the Church, for families, for the protection of human life, and for peace throughout the world.

As the Silver Rose continues southward, the Sacred Heart community entrusts its prayers to the loving intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

Prayer to Our Lady of Guadalupe

Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Americas,
we place ourselves under your loving care.
Lead us ever closer to your Son, Jesus Christ.
Protect our families, strengthen our faith,
comfort the lonely, heal the sick,
and inspire us to be faithful disciples of the Gospel.
May your maternal intercession bring peace to our hearts
and hope to our world.
Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us. Amen.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Barbara.

Barbara was a faithful parishioner, devoted wife to Skip Girard, loving friend, and a constant presence in the life of Sacred Heart Church. Her warm smile, generous spirit, and steadfast faith touched countless lives. She served our parish with great generosity and left an example of Christian discipleship that will not soon be forgotten.

Please keep Skip, their family, and all who mourn Barbara’s passing in your prayers.

May Barbara’s soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Youth Group is Back — and Better Than Ever!

We are excited to announce that Sacred Heart Youth Group has been revamped and is now being led by Chris Nichol!

Youth group is about so much more than games and activities. It is a place where young people build friendships, grow in faith, and discover that they belong to something bigger than themselves. The friendships formed in youth group often become the friendships that last a lifetime.

The future of the Church is sitting in our pews today. The young people who serve, pray, learn, and participate in parish life now are the very ones who will be leading ministries, teaching the faith, raising Catholic families, and guiding our parish years from now.

If you have a student in grades 6–12, we invite them to come and see what youth group is all about. Whether they have been involved for years or are walking through the doors for the first time, they are welcome.
