The Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord (Job 1:21, KJV). In this passage, Job was mourning his recent losses, but still understood God was in control. In modern times this is quoted when a loved one dies, but we might actually benefit from further personal reflection. God is still the Master and creator of the universe and, if we let Him, He will still manage, ever so quietly, every detail of our life. He knows what He's doing and asks for complete control. Will you let Him?

Where are you God? Have you ever asked this? Has it seemed that He has left and you are all alone, just when you needed Him most? A few things to consider - has He really left? Is He an "on demand" God that we control at our whim? Could He be waiting for you to come closer to Him - to know Him for the God that He is? Paul reminds us that God said, "I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee" (Hebrews 13:5, KJV). He is not a genie in a bottle that we can make perform miracles or answer our requests in our timing. He's so much better than that, and so much more! Take comfort in knowing that He is always with us, and He always will be. And He will answer and reveal Himself when it is His perfect timing.

We say, "Where are you now, God," and He says "Look up here, child." After all, He gives His children only the best because every good and perfect gift comes from above. How can we ever doubt that He is observing, guiding, giving - along with teaching, challenging, and cheering us on?
