Decades of Dedication
Sometimes the people who make the biggest difference in a community are the ones who simply keep
showing up, year after year, doing the work that needs to be done. For more than four decades, Alice
Ann White has been one of those people for the Bogata Cemetery Association, and we think that kind
of dedication deserves to be recognized. She recently stepped down as secretary-treasurer of the
Association but still serves as a member.
Through the years, Alice Ann has served as a board member, reporter, and secretary-treasurer. She
has received and recorded donations and memorial gifts; managed the Association’s finances and
records; worked with numerous families, groundskeepers, and cemetery officers; and helped make
sure the day-to-day needs of the cemetery were taken care of.
Generations of Bogata families have been able to count on Alice Ann’s trusted, steady work on behalf
of the cemetery and the people whose loved ones rest there. Much of that work happens behind the
scenes, without recognition or compensation, but its impact can be seen all around us in the well-kept
grounds, the restored pavilion, the plaque marking the first grave in the cemetery, the improved
cemetery road, and numerous other areas.
Alice Ann would be quick to say she did not do this work alone, but through the years she has been
the steady presence at the heart of it all, helping keep the work moving forward from one year to the
next.
Thank you, Alice Ann, for the many hours, years and decades you have given to the Bogata Cemetery
Association and to our community. Thank you for helping preserve not only our cemetery, but a part
of Bogata's history. Some forms of community service are measured in hours. Yours can be
measured in decades.
