STAND FIRM: 6-Day Discipleship Boot Camp

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” — Ephesians 6:10

Sunday we were reminded that the Christian life is not lived on a playground—it is lived on a battlefield. We have a real enemy, we are in a real battle, Jesus has won a real victory, and our command is clear: STAND FIRM.

A soldier doesn’t enter battle without training. In the same way, discipleship trains us to recognize the enemy, trust our Commander, use what God has given us, and stand when the battle comes.

For the next six days, welcome to Discipleship Boot Camp. Each day we’ll finish by taking one piece of the armor of God and putting it into practice.

MONDAY — KNOW YOUR ENEMY

Read: Ephesians 6:10–12; Ephesians 2:1–3

One of the first things a soldier must learn is how to identify the enemy. Paul makes something very clear: “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood.”

Your spouse is not your enemy. Your children are not your enemy. Your coworker is not your enemy. The person who disagrees with you is not your enemy. That difficult person may be involved in the battle, but they aren’t the enemy. We’re in the foxhole together.

Scripture shows us three fronts in the spiritual battle:

* THE DEVIL — AGAINST ME: He lies, deceives, accuses and schemes.
* THE WORLD — AROUND ME: It pressures us to think, value and live contrary to God.
* THE FLESH — WITHIN ME: Our own desires pull us toward what God has told us to resist.

Sometimes we spend so much energy fighting people that we never recognize the battle actually happening around us.

BOOT CAMP DRILL

* Think about a conflict you’re facing right now.
* Who have you been treating like the enemy?
* Where do you see the devil’s lies, the world’s pressure, or your own flesh at work?
* Before you respond to that person today, pray for them.

GEAR UP — THE BELT OF TRUTH | Ephesians 6:14

The enemy lies, so start with truth.

* Identify one lie you’ve been believing.
* Find one truth from God’s Word that answers it.
* Write the Scripture down.
* When the lie returns today, answer it with truth.

STAND FIRM.

09/06/2026

There’s a battle going on—and most of it can’t be seen. The Bible reminds us that we do not wrestle against flesh and blood. Our enemy is real. His schemes are real. But the good news is this: Jesus has already won the victory.

This Sunday we begin STAND FIRM, a new six-week sermon series on spiritual warfare from Ephesians 6. Together, we’ll learn:
• Who our real enemy is
• Who we are and where we stand in Christ
• How the enemy works and the lies he uses
• What it means to put on the armor of God
• How to use the spiritual weapons God has given us
• How to keep standing when the battle gets hard

We begin with “Know Your Enemy: The Battle Is Real.” You can’t stand firm if you’re fighting the wrong enemy. The battle is real. The enemy is real. But Jesus has already won. So—STAND FIRM.
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” — Ephesians 6:10 NKJV

WESTSIDE STUDENTS vs. KINGDOM KIDS — IT’S ON!

Every Wednesday in September, we’re turning our offering into a competition with a purpose! Our Students and Kingdom Kids are going head-to-head to see who can bring the most canned goods for local food banks.

And we just raised the stakes…

OUR DEACONS ARE MATCHING IT! 🙌
Whatever our kids and students give, our deacons will match—can for can!

So bring a can. Bring a bag. Bring a CASE. Get your family involved and help us give even more to families in our community!

Every Wednesday in September
Final collection: September 30

There won’t be a trophy or a big prize waiting at the end. The real win is knowing there’s a family with a meal on their table because you gave.

Two teams. One purpose. Twice the impact.

LET’S FILL THE FOOD BANKS!

A new Sunday School semester is starting at Westside! And whether you’ve been here every Sunday, haven’t been in a while, or have never tried a Sunday School class before—this is a great time to jump in.

Sunday School is where a big church starts to feel a little smaller. It’s where you open the Bible, ask questions, build friendships, and grow in your faith alongside people who are doing life with you.

This semester we have new studies, new opportunities, and even some new locations for our classes. There’s something for every age—from our youngest kids and students to adults in every season of life.

Sundays at 9:15 AM

If you’ve been thinking about getting connected, make this the semester you do it. Come back. Start fresh. Bring the family. Invite somebody with you.

There’s a class for you at Westside. Come find your place!

DAY 5 — DON’T LET IT STOP WITH YOU

Read: Matthew 5:13–16

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Think about how the gospel reached you.

Somebody told somebody.

Who told somebody.

Who told somebody.

Eventually somebody taught your grandmother. Somebody invited your father. Somebody brought your mother to church. Somebody taught your Sunday School class. Somebody picked you up for VBS. Somebody prayed for you. Somebody opened a Bible. Somebody told you about Jesus.

The gospel eventually reached your seat.

Somewhere in your story, somebody refused to let the gospel stop with them.

Now it’s your turn.

Jesus didn’t save us simply to remove us from darkness. He made us light so that others could see Him through us.

The question isn’t simply:

“Who brought the gospel to me?”

The question is:

“Who will receive the gospel through me?”

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Today, intentionally be salt and light:

* Buy someone’s meal or coffee with no expectation of anything back.
* Encourage someone who seems forgotten.
* Forgive someone you’ve been avoiding.
* Serve someone who cannot repay you.
* Invite someone into your home or to your table.
* Tell one person why Jesus matters to you.

Then ask yourself:

Twenty years from now, could somebody tell their salvation story and mention my name?

The gospel didn’t begin with us.

And God forbid that it ends with us.

Someone reached one more, who reached one more, who reached one more…

until somebody reached you.

Now go reach—

JUST ONE MORE.

DAY 4 — ONE MORE INVITATION

Read: Acts 2:40–41

“And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, ‘Be saved…’”

Peter didn’t only live differently.

He said something.

Sometimes Christians say, “I’ll just live my faith and hopefully they’ll notice.”

We absolutely should live differently.

But eventually someone has to tell them why.

Romans 10:14 asks, “And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard?”

An invitation can be incredibly simple:

“Come to church with me.”

“Can I pray for you?”

“Can I tell you what Jesus has done in my life?”

Don’t decide someone’s answer before giving them the opportunity to respond.

They might say no.

But they might say…

“Sure.”

Our responsibility isn’t their response. Our responsibility is faithfulness.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

* Invite one person to church.
* Share something Jesus has done for you with one person.
* If someone mentions a need, ask permission to pray with them right then.
* If you’ve invited someone before and they’ve said no, consider asking one more time.

JUST ONE MORE: One invitation could change someone’s eternity.

DAY 3 — ONE MORE PERSON

Read: John 1:35–42

“He first found his own brother Simon… And he brought him to Jesus.” (vv. 41–42)

Before Peter preached and 3,000 people responded in Acts 2, Peter was one person somebody brought to Jesus.

Andrew found his brother.

That’s it.

He didn’t know what Peter would become. He couldn’t see Pentecost. He couldn’t imagine thousands responding to Peter’s preaching.

Andrew simply knew Jesus—and wanted his brother to know Him too.

We celebrate Peter’s 3,000, but don’t forget Andrew’s one.

You have no idea what God might do through one person you reach.

Your one may become the person who changes a family. Your one may eventually reach dozens of others. Your one may simply become a faithful follower of Jesus who someday reaches one more.

Don’t become overwhelmed trying to reach everybody.

Start with somebody.

TODAY’S CHALLENGE

Think of one person who needs Jesus.

Write their name somewhere you’ll see it.

Then:

* Pray for them by name.
* Send them an encouraging text.
* Look for a practical way to serve them.
* Ask God to give you an opportunity to talk about Jesus.

JUST ONE MORE: Who is your one?
