STAND FIRM: 6-Day Discipleship Boot Camp
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” — Ephesians 6:10
Sunday we were reminded that the Christian life is not lived on a playground—it is lived on a battlefield. We have a real enemy, we are in a real battle, Jesus has won a real victory, and our command is clear: STAND FIRM.
A soldier doesn’t enter battle without training. In the same way, discipleship trains us to recognize the enemy, trust our Commander, use what God has given us, and stand when the battle comes.
For the next six days, welcome to Discipleship Boot Camp. Each day we’ll finish by taking one piece of the armor of God and putting it into practice.
MONDAY — KNOW YOUR ENEMY
Read: Ephesians 6:10–12; Ephesians 2:1–3
One of the first things a soldier must learn is how to identify the enemy. Paul makes something very clear: “We do not wrestle against flesh and blood.”
Your spouse is not your enemy. Your children are not your enemy. Your coworker is not your enemy. The person who disagrees with you is not your enemy. That difficult person may be involved in the battle, but they aren’t the enemy. We’re in the foxhole together.
Scripture shows us three fronts in the spiritual battle:
* THE DEVIL — AGAINST ME: He lies, deceives, accuses and schemes.
* THE WORLD — AROUND ME: It pressures us to think, value and live contrary to God.
* THE FLESH — WITHIN ME: Our own desires pull us toward what God has told us to resist.
Sometimes we spend so much energy fighting people that we never recognize the battle actually happening around us.
BOOT CAMP DRILL
* Think about a conflict you’re facing right now.
* Who have you been treating like the enemy?
* Where do you see the devil’s lies, the world’s pressure, or your own flesh at work?
* Before you respond to that person today, pray for them.
GEAR UP — THE BELT OF TRUTH | Ephesians 6:14
The enemy lies, so start with truth.
* Identify one lie you’ve been believing.
* Find one truth from God’s Word that answers it.
* Write the Scripture down.
* When the lie returns today, answer it with truth.
STAND FIRM.
