He was sitting in his bed that night ready to quit.
The drama. The chaos. Kids who seemed determined to make everything harder. He'd had enough.
And then β€” he said it was like the Holy Spirit smacked him across the face β€” he heard it: You were that kid. There was someone who loved you enough to see through all of your mess. That's what I've called you to be.
Pastor Garrett McCord shares the moment he realized something uncomfortable: he'd learned the language, met the expectations, gotten good at looking faithful β€” and had quietly started caring more about ministry than about God and the people it was supposed to be for.
It's an easy drift. And it doesn't just happen to pastors.

He wasn't supposed to be there.

A man β€” still a Muslim β€” woke up one morning feeling like he needed to go to church. He found one. He went. And while he was gone, something catastrophic happened where he had been sleeping. Had he stayed, he wouldn't have survived.

That's one story. From one trip. From one week in the Middle East.

Chris Campbell went to the Middle East this fall with a team from FBC Boerne. What he came back with was hard to put into words β€” but he tried: "While these countries may want Jesus out of there, Jesus is not going to be thwarted."

The Gospel is moving in that region in ways that would take your breath away. House churches. Car churches. People meeting Jesus in dreams. New believers are becoming church planters.

Episode 84 of the SO THAT Missions Podcast is out now. This is Part 1.

Two Sundays. One journey.

On May 11, 14 families stood up and made a promise. On May 18, 21 young men and women crossed the finish line.

Parent/Child Dedication and Senior Recognition aren't separate events on a calendar β€” they're the same story, years in the making. The NextGen Roadmap calls it what it is: a journey from the very first promise all the way to Launch.

This is what it looks like when a church family walks with the next generation from the very beginning to the very end.

Are you carefully ordering your life to have as little contact with the lost world as possible?

It's an uncomfortable question. But it's the one Mark 2 forces us to ask.

Because the Pharisees weren't trying to be villains. They were serious about holiness. They just believed holiness meant keeping their distance from sinners.

And then Jesus showed up β€” and walked straight into the mess.

Not to participate in sin. But to rescue sinners.

You have an important role to play in the Body of Christ.

At FBC, we’re building a community where each person’s unique gifts contribute to a greater
whole.

Multi-generational. Collaborative. Empowered.

We serve together, all for the sake of the Kingdom.

If you've ever thought β€” Jesus has to be exhausted with me by now β€” this one's for you.
Pastor Jason Smith slows down a scene from the Gospel of Mark and asks us to look carefully at what Jesus actually does when broken people come to him.
He's not irritated. He's not repelled. He is drawn to them.
Your remaining struggle does not surprise your Savior. Your sins aren't the reason he pulls away β€” they're the reason he came. He died for all of them. Every single one.
There is more grace in him than there is guilt in you.
Come to him again.

You will behold your Creator. Your Savior.

And when He looks at you, it will be like nothing you've ever experienced in your entire life.

To be fully known. To be fully satisfied.

The greatest gift of heaven isn't the streets of gold. It's Him.
