Today we begin Advent and the new liturgical year. Our family is not always the best at praying together daily so we have made a new liturgical year resolution to pray together more often and Advent seems like the perfect time to start.

We read the Gospel for today, talked about it a little bit, read a chapter from a children’s Advent story we always enjoy called “Tabithas Travels,” and read about the saint for today. It wasn’t perfect... Joaquín (the baby) was talking through half of it making everyone else laugh, Jaxon kept falling off this exercise tube he was using as a chair, and the two oldest kept bothering each other and making faces at the baby. But we did it. And it was special. Not because of anything we did but just because we gathered together.

It’s not perfect but we are trying because it’s important.
