Salomon reminds us that righteous integrity in all of our business dealings is what please God and ensures our abundance. We need to think before we speak and frequently don't speak at all because our tounges can be used to create great harm. Finally in all our preperations for life and even battle that God is sovereign and the source of our victory.

As we read through the Proverbs we see that each isn't on a single topic but nuggets of wisdom in each one. He reminds us that the Lord isn't interested in sacrifice but obedience. When we allow our lives to be dircted by the Lord we will prosper but when we are hasty it will lead to our downfall. Finally if we want to know that God hears our cry we first must answer the call of the poor.

Solomon is full of practical advice for life. He tells us to avoid people who are babblers. To be people of integrity in all our business dealings. Most importantly to know that the gift of the Holy Spirit in us is what transforms lives.

First he gives a stern warning not to allow wine or hard liquor to take over your life because it will lead to destruction. There is warning about provoking and quarling. Don't love sleep or you will suffer lack. The key question is "a faithful man who can find?"

The way of God brings life while the self-willed find destruction. All that God commands of us is for our good and protection. Jesus fulfilled the Law for us and made it very simple Love the Lord Your God! Turn from the folly of living a self-dircted life that leads to destruction.

Solomon's wisdom is profoundly relevent thousands of years later. Here he reminds us that poverty with integrity is better than a corrupt way. A rich man has many friends but the poor have little. It really makes me think of the great value of a true friend. A quaraling wife is a headache but a prudent wife is a gift from the Lord.

Here Solomon shares wisdom on relationships. We need to listen before we answer. When a brother is offended we need to seek restoration and cherish the friends God gives us that run to us when everyone else is running away. There is great power in the tongue to bring both death and life. As Christ one's we need to make sure our words speak life to all.
